We lost over half the flock to what we believe is a family of raccoons this morning. We are beyond heart broken. One of my favorite hens is gone. No more birds till we can re-do the coop and run. Now we are just doing all we can to keep the rest safe.

Well that's disheartening... My SD card got "corrupted" And I lost ALLLL my saved photos. This includes all my pics of the farm and animals. Good thing I save most pics EVERYWHERE else lol

Why did she pose like that 😂 Cassie literally did this (looked up at the ceiling) and held it and looked at me out of the corner of her eye like "you get it?"

It's been a while since I've had time to sit down and talk about things going on with the Wilson homestead.
My fiance and I will be getting married (finally) on October 1st. 🎉 💑💍

The horses got a round bale the other day as the water company wanted to dig a massive trench in the front yard and pasture for a new water line so we had to put the horses in the dry lot.

Unfortunately yesterday's news isn't good news. We lost one of our young roosters suddenly with no warning. He was his normal happy, healthy self yesterday morning and we both went to work. Upon coming home we found him in his pen, lying on his side as if he was asleep but he was gone. He had no injuries. There was no signs of any predators attempting to get in his pen. He was by himself so another bird didn't do this to him. My mind is blown. What on earth caused this?

After our Cosidosis scare, all the birds have been great. We caught it in time and treated everyone and didn't lose anyone. No one was sick anymore and he never even contracted it that I was aware of. He had zero signs of any kind of infection or disease.

We may never know what happened to him. We're keeping an eye on the rest of the flock but everyone else seems normal. But he did too yesterday morning. Everything I've read up on points to heart attack. He was so young.

Rest easy Melvin. You were a great little roo 🐓

I haven't posted in a while, I've been super busy, but I just really want to share the cute little guys that I just found hanging out around my outside porch light ❤ the smaller one is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the other. These pics don't show just how little he is! 🐸

Well, I think we're battling coccidiosis with our flock. This may be why we've lost several younger birds. Hopefully now that we've added corid to their water sources we can get this cleared up. I noticed yesterday that Delta's comb and waddles were significantly paler than usually and he was a little uneasy on his feet so naturally this was a major cause for concern. Upon doing some research of his symptoms, I've come to the conclusion this may be what's wrong with everyone else to. I finally identified a probable cause and administered treatment and now we wait and hope this mess clears up. If anyone would like to know the information on this disease and identification and treatment I'll be more than happy to share what I've learned!

So.... Without my truck im having trouble doing things I want to get done. Good things to come its just a process. On another note, there's been a beautiful black kitty lurking around the house. I'm hoping to catch it. Wish me luck!

Duke recruited Rebel as his partner in crime today. They were easier to get back in than Duke was yesterday. Grain in a bucket is a God send. So I have a fence to look harder at today. I'm also hoping the well being shut off all day and night helped it... But on a brighter note, the girls are laying again!
