Redbull was having a feral moment yesterday. I was peacefully watching the ladies and the babies make their merry way to the snack table. Just kind of letting my mind wander and enjoying the scene. Apparently that was offensive to RedBull. Now, it is normal for us to be in and amongst the herd. I normally keep a vigilant eye because cows outweigh me by quite a bit and they have their own minds and might decide to act on a dumb thought and create a dangerous situation. However, I let my guard down. Like, way down-in the dirt probably. Anywho-instead of RedBull proceeding peaceably with all his women…he whirled on me. Bucked and twisted, did the head thing bulls do when they want to fight….came at me a step or two-maybe more. I don’t know exactly because my soul had already left my body. I yelled at him(because a tomboy like myself would never admit to that scream that flew out of my face) and ran. As I ran my generic farm croc-the pair that let’s water in the soles, the ones that the left is missing the 4 wheel drive lock in feature, the pair that is older than my house that was completed in 2015-that left fake croc did not come with my left foot. Maybe it volunteered as a sacrifice? So, I’m standing, one shoe on, one foot in the dirt, eye balling this beast who’s neck circumference is bigger than my body and do the best think I could think of. I holler-because in NW TN you holler-at my farmer to ‘Get your bull!’. He was across the way a little and did not really witness anything before my first super intimidating yell (scream). So, what did he do? Laugh. Because at that point the situation really was resolved and RedBull was headed off where he was supposed to go. And, as my farmer pointed out, how exactly was he supposed to ‘get his bull’? I don’t really know. But I do know this. If that bull had really needed some intervention because he decided I was a worthy opponent-my farmer husband would have figured it out. Because that’s what he does. He figures everything out to the benefit of me and our family. That’s what a good provider and protector does. No matter how exhausting or how crappy or anything else. He just gets things done. He is my champion for life. Yesterday was also our wedding anniversary…and for a minute I thought it was going to be the last one based on that ‘till death do we part’ bit. Mercy.
I included what appears to be a photo I took in the melee and a very embarrassing picture of RedBull. I am not above shaming him on the socials. And a video in the comments taken about .5 of a second before he momentarily lost his mind.
Have a good day today. It will be if you chose it to be.
