And thats a wrap! Im a bit late posting, but i have to talk about this even. Salsas, Tacos, and Tequila Competition hosted El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort by Art State Arizona was one for the books.
Im not even sure where to begin. Just being involved in this event in any capacity is a blessing. There were so many wonderful culinary artists (thats what I like to call chefs and mixologists and the spectrum of the culinary field, we are edible artists.) that were involved. Amelia’s Mexican Kitchen Dantes Tavern The Barnyard Crafthouse & Eatery Tohono Chul Garden Bistro Omni Tucson National Resort & Spa
Agave House La Chingada [POPPED] Artisan Popcorn] Artisan Popcorn Old Pueblo Cellars YellowBird Farm 🌿🌾 James Hall || Potter and many others! I know i missed many, please help me tag everyone involved!
I left my table as much I could, but i was lucky enough to taste most of the competition and i was blown away! The presentation, the aromas, the complexity of all the flavors and techniques is almost indescribable. There was not 1 thing I had any complaints about, everyone really brought their A game.
I was also fortunate enough to actually be in competition with these restaurants, which is already an honor on its own, and I received some amazing feedback and reactions from all the wonderful people that were gracious enough to try my salsas. We may not have won any awards, but i know we stirred the pot a bit and made our prescense known.
One thing I am taking away from this, is to be bold and confident in myself and my product. I was slightly intimidated with this massive restaurants with 6 team members and huge followings and recognition, and just being a guy from my home kitchen. It felt like a David and Goliath moment. I need to put myself out there because out of 2000 samples, we had only given out about 100. So, with that said, next year be ready everyone, Saguaro Salsas is going to steal the show.
Competition aside, I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved that made this event happen. It was extremely organized and a breeze to be a part of. The coordinators and competition and even the local Artisan vendors that all participated and brought this vision to life! This is one unforgettable experience, and one huge step in my career.
