We are finished with ENMSF and we are HOME! 🥳

We didn't place in the market classes, but that's okay! We were up against some VERY nice pigs and our own were recovering from two other fairs and upset tummies. We still got to have some fun and get some practice!

We didn't go to Eastern for the market classes anyway. We only went for the New Mexico Bred Swine Association show! Jasper wanted to compare the piggies he works so hard to raise with the big NM breeders. I think he did pretty stinkin awesome! 🥰

🩵Jasper and Tamale got 4th
🩵Jasper and Twinkle got 3rd
🩵 Lilli and Big Guy got 2nd and made it into Lilli's first ever breed drive!

Every kid and pig has a story, and we think Lilli and Big Guy's deserves to be told. 🐽

Big Guy was the runt of Storm's litter, but he was still really, really nice. Jasper even had Big Guy sold as a boar prospect! However, he developed a scrotal hernia and we had to call the person to explain we couldn't sell him as a boar after all. Dr. Jordan Lenssen did surgery on him a few days later and he was good as new!

The litter continued to grow, Big Guy fell behind a little, and Jasper made his final Berk selection-Twinkle, the only gilt in the litter. Unfortunately, she was off color for a Berk and I was concerned she might class cross with all her white ✨twinkle✨ patches. We talked Jasper into keeping Big Guy as a backup. Plan B!

And then the backup pig, who fell behind and barely made weight for each show we took him to, kicked the first choice's butt every time they showed together! Poor Jasper was so annoyed that, and I quote, "MY LITTLE SISTER BEAT ME WITH MY OWN PIG!" 🤣

Lilli, on the other hand, was over the moon that she beat her brother and made it into the breed drive. She's been loving on Big Guy since day one. She deserved her moment in the spotlight with him!

Thank you to Dr. Jordan for fixing our pigs! You've repaired entirely too many for us this year. We are so grateful! (Grateful for Dr. Travis Lenssen, too, but you don't get credit for this one! 🤣)

And thank you to the ladies behind the scenes at New Mexico Bred Swine Association, Sheila Ann Stephenson and Jolie Foster. You put on a great show and really ended this fair season on a high note for my kids. You are amazing! We look forward to the next one! 🩵

SNMSF is in the books! Next stop, ENMSF! 🫪😵‍💫

This was Oreo's last show. We are thrilled to add her to the sow herd...even if she is obnoxious at meal time. 🤣 Keep an eye out for some baby Oreos in June!

Meet Reba!
🧬Empire x Twisted Tea x BBB🧬
💥 Champion Tamworth Gilt at Lincoln County, MO fair
💥Class winner at Missouri State Fair
💥 6th overall Tamworth gilt on the Missouri Youth Show Pig Circuit

I'm absolutely determined to start a quality Tam program here in the desert. Since Pumpkin likes to jump out of her pen and catch litters of crosses, buying a pretty lady with titles was CLEARLY the answer. When all else fails, buy new pigs, right? 🤣

All jokes aside, many thanks to the Chidster family and C.B. Swine for trusting us with your girl. We look forward to a long and beautiful farm friendship and many, many beautiful mini Rebas! 🩵

I have so much to say about this kid! For the sake of space, I'm going with LORALEI IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

This is her 3rd year showing and she experienced a ton of setbacks with her livestock this year. Life just hit this kid upside the head and didn't stop. But you know what? She fought back, kicked some ass, and earned her first ever buckle! 👊🏻
