Today was harvest day 🤗 for our 1st crop of sweet 🍠

We are building an urban backyard garden with the goal of becoming more self-sufficient 👍🏾 💯

We are getting some late summer crop harvest & prepping for our fall harvest🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

We got some new things coming to the urban homestead green 🐔 🐥 🪴 🌱 🏙

Had a convo with Jim Hall and the Hall Homestead Rabbitry 🐇 & in October we are going to add some lines of his TAMUK REW rabbits to the homestead.

This is another way to sure up & become more self-sufficient.

You know what goes PERFECT with growing lettuce in your own backyard, deck, balcony or patio 🤔 ??

1st peace of mind knowing where your food came from. 🙌 Also, your own homemade salad dressing.

This dressing is super easy AND you probably got most if not all these ingredients in your fridge and pantry

Lemon juice 🍋
Olive oil 🫒
Salt & Pepper🧂
Italian 🇮🇹 seasoning
Garlic

The best part you just add the ingredient to YOUR taste 😋

You CAN grow a garden from kitchen scrapes 👍🏾🟩

Quail 🐣 update

Our chicks are just over 3 weeks olda and mostly fully feathered. They are off heat completely (besides the temps are over 💯).

There are 21 total chicks and we are going to keep this group to re-build our flock. By 4 weeks you should be able to feather s*x your quail to determine to hen to roo ratio (which you want to have 1 roo for every 5 hens 😉)

IMHO 🤔 quail are a TOP pick if you live in a small urban space & want to be more self-sufficient and produce your own eggs & meat.

Updates on the urban homestead. We are excited to see our goal come into being. We habe planned & prayed & give God the praise for His provision.

Shout to Jordan Miller & Phoenix Farmstead for the quality work on the rabbit hutch. Go & like their page ans check out some of the products they have , especially their pickled quail eggs 😋

Hanging out with the 🐔 this morning & working in the garden. I am really impressed with the purple 💜 hull 🫛 sprouting and looking purple great!!
