Okay, after making garlic scapes up for the first time, the consensus from the entire family is THEY ARE DELICIOUS.

We also had steak (from the latest cow we had butchered), and garlic mashed potatoes (the lovely instant mashed potatoes because we were out of potatoes 🤣)

If you ever get a chance to try garlic scapes, do it!

We're going to try garlic scapes with dinner tonight! I'm getting ready to bake them the way I do asparagus - coated in some olive oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper, and then covered with parmesan cheese (and I usually put minced garlic on the asparagus too, but these are supposed to have a mild garlic flavor). Fingers crossed they're good 🤞

Who else eats garlic scapes? What's your favorite way to prepare them?

I have been practicing working on my fur sewing machine today! I had this nutria pelt that I repaired holes on and then wetted down and tacked down on a board to dry flat. Today, I measured the pelt out in 1" strips and sewed them back to themselves to give it this interesting look! This will become the front panel of a pillow cover. For my first attempt at working with fur, I'm happy with the result!

We are now the proud owners of a Bonis fur sewing machine! Can you tell that I'm a little excited about it? 🤣

We drove to Michigan early this morning to pick it up. The furrier was amazing and spent a good chunk of his time showing me how to use it and also provided lots of other very useful information. I can't wait to put it to use!

3 days into tea tanning 2 beaver tails. The lighter picture was taken about 20 minutes into putting the tails in the first batch of tea (because I forgot to snap a picture of them before putting them in 🤦‍♀️)... Check out that drastic color difference 3 days has made! We're excited to see how they end up turning out in the end!

Today was a productive day!

We got a lot of things planted in the garden:

🍅 San Marzano tomatoes
🌶 Snack peppers
🥒 National Pickling Cucumbers
🍉 Sugar Baby watermelons
🌽 Peaches and Cream sweet corn
🌿 Dill
🌿 Basil
🌿 Thyme
🌿 Parsley

Then I ran out of day light lol... I still have several more herbs to plant, and I need to buy some new zucchini and yellow squash plants because my seedlings died 🥴.

Check out the beautiful sunset from this evening! So amazing. I love living out in the country. It is such a blessing. The peace, the calmness of quietly planting your garden while watching the sun go down, listening to some birds chirp off in the distance... It's good for the soul. Thank you, God, for putting us where you did!
