What’s a baby goats favorite snack? Well of course some crunchy leaves! Oreo got to enjoy some leaves last week out on the turf while visiting the vet clinic. The staff have been begging me to bring him to visit before he leaves for New York and he had a great time! This cutie and two others will be leaving here shortly to their new home in New York and we are so excited for them!

We have started to dry off our does from summer kidding as shows are coming to an end and we no longer need the milk. Tonight while getting ready to milk out Alebar Bearfoot Twix I couldn’t help but admire her udder. We have only had this doe for two kiddings and I absolutely love her, she always catches my eye, especially in full milk. I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to bring her into our herd and are loving the improvements she’s brought with her.

Who needs a cute little face to brighten up this rainy Sunday morning. Little miss Jellybean wants to bring some joy to your feed and show off her little milk-stache/beard after receiving her bottle this morning. Her and her sister are both currently available if you are looking for good quality ADGA does!

It was a long hot day, but we had fun and learned a lot from the judges comments. There were four separate judges allowing us to hear four different sets of comments, while some were similar there were some different ones as well. This was Wingler Acres Midnight Mayhem’s first time setting foot in the show ring and I was very happy with him. Today’s placings are as follows:

Thank you to all the men, women, and working dogs who spent endless hours looking for those who lost their lives or were wounded and thank you to all the individuals who still fight for our country each and every day.

Not a goat post, but I just had to share the tomatoes from our garden. This year we’ve had an abundance of tomatoes and some have been huge! We like to keep a small garden to cook with, give away, or share a special treat with the herd. With as many tomatoes as we’ve had this year I think we may just have to introduce the herd to them.

This morning Wingler Acres Midnight Mayhem got some extra loving and some much needed practice before his first show debut tomorrow. This is our first ever buck show and we are super excited to have Mayhem evaluated in four separate rings and get some feedback on him. He will be riding along with KNF Farms SW Winona Meadow and Bella Rossa Estate AureliaRose for their third show of the season. We can’t wait to see how the show plays out and learn more about our goats!

We want to highlight a very special boy in our herd, MeadowMist WD Shadow Walker. He has been a staple for our farm and continues to produce offspring with so much consistency. We have retained three daughters from him and are debating whether we retain his two daughters from the summer season. Shadow consistently stamps his kids with level top lines and proper front end assembly with angularity from the neck throughout the shoulder. He only has one freshened daughter her on our farm and her mammary was gorgeous, we are patiently waiting for some of his other daughters to freshen in the future.

Last night we had a family get together and got to introduce some of the littles to the herd. They were a little skeptical of them at first but eventually warmed up to them and enjoyed feeding the girls watermelon. We also took this time to teach some of the extended family a little about what we do in our herd and a little about the Nigerian Dwarf breed. We love getting opportunities like this to teach a little about our herd!

We would like to highlight a few of our does who have been in milk for the past few months. Alebar Bearfoot Twix (Twix) has been in milk since June 30th and her mammary is one of my favorites in the herd. Her udder is has symmetrical teats and a beautiful medial line that splits each quarter evenly. Our other doe pictured, The We Dare You (Mera) has been in milk since July 3rd and has transitioned to hand milking in the past week and a half. She had previously been dam raising her kids so we are getting her production back up, but her udder has good potential, with a nice medial line and long easily milkable teats. I can’t wait to see how she looks as her production grows. We hope to get some of these girls into some sanctioned shows in the future!
