We will be closed tomorrow, August 22nd, to celebrate a very special milestone! We're taking the day to honor the beautiful woman who works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our farm running. She is turning 50 (though you would never guess it!), and she deserves a wonderful day off.

Today, the amazing Dr. Kit came out to preg check Peppermint, Maeve, and Poppy.

This was our first time running them through the corral and headlock, and Poppy and Peppermint have a healthy respect of Maeve being above them, so it took more wrangling than we'd planned, or wanted. But, they actually did really well going through once we got them up and in.

While it wasn't the outcome we'd hoped for, and we may have to make some tough decisions, we're over the moon that Peppermint took! We can't wait to meet her little bull or heifer calf in April of 2027!

Today's cow cuddling sessions with Basil will be al fresco because someone...or someones...*cough Brooke and Giselle* refuse to be anywhere but in "their" stall. Doesn't matter that there's browse and grass to be had, the moms want their cushy life.

So, Basil is enjoying his fresh food and the breeze in his hair, and they all look forward to seeing you guys today. ☺️

Yesterday was pull out the CIDRs and give a shot to Peppermint, Maeve, Poppy, and Nutmeg. Another shot and the AI'ing will happen early Thursday morning. Crossing fingers we have better luck this time and have good news to report in the coming months!

We also took advantage of Maeve being tied and distracted to brush her out, something she abhors with the passion of 1000 fiery suns. She looked great...until all the rain last night. 🤦‍♀️😂

Yesterday, Aaron from Stevens Cattle Hoof Care LLC, came out to the farm to trim the cuddle and non-cuddle cows hooves. Some took more convincing and wrangling than others to get them into the chute, but we got 'em through with only a few bumps and bruises to the humans. 😂 Aaron made quick work and was incredibly kind, patient and helpful throughout the entire process.

After they were done, the vet came out to start the AI protocol for Maeve, Peppermint, Poppy, and Nutmeg, and administer rabies shots to the crew. Aaron came in clutch with placing the CIDRs in the girls with Dr. Kit giving the injections, all with Brian holding them in place. Big thanks to having such great caretakers who are not only awesome at their jobs, but genuinely good people that make the hard work more fun!

We're booked up for most of Basil's bottle-feeding & cuddle sessions, but we still have some availability left. Here is what we have as of this afternoon.

Once these are filled, that's it for 2026 bottle-feedings! We'll still be offering cuddle sessions with Basil (and, of course, the rest of the crew), so if you don't snag one of these appointments but want to get some calf time in, just click on our regular sessions, and you can book a spot with Basil.
