Our honeybees are dancing!🐝🪩

Honeybees perform a specialized movement called the waggle dance in order to communicate with the hive! By moving in a figure-eight and then rapidly vibrating, the honeybee is able to tell her hive mates the exact location, distance, and quality of food sources or potential new nesting sites!🌸

The straight part of the run (or middle of the figure-eight) shows the direction, the length of time spent waggling tells the distance, and the excitement or vigor of the dance tells the quality of the location!📍

Have you ever danced to communicate?💃
