September is National Tasting Project
The National Tasting Project (NTP) is one of the most exciting ways American Wine Society members connect, learn, and share their passion for wine. Through NTP, members across the country taste the same curated wines, score them using the AWS Wine Evaluation format, and compare results with other chapters.
Started in 1990 by Pam Davey and friends, the mission of NTP has always been to help members calibrate their palates alongside AWS Judges. The very first wines tasted were California Merlots, and since then the program has expanded to explore wine regions and varietals from across the globe. Recent years have featured regions such as Paso Robles, Illyria, Portugal, Sicily, and Southern Rhone.
On Saturday, Lake Washington joined the Puget Sound Chapter to sample 9 incredible wines from iconic Australian producers including Torbreck Vintners, Henschke, Two Hands, Mollydooker, Penfolds, and Tyrrell’s Wines.🍇With tastings ranging from Semillon and Riesling to Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and blends, we explored the many valleys of Southern Australia. Each glass offered a chance not only to enjoy world-class wines, but also to deepen understanding and appreciation of the diversity in winemaking styles.
Here’s to another year of discovery, learning, and raising a glass together through the National Tasting Project! 🥂
