"Patti is a cub scout master for the Howard scouts, she heads up the food distribution at the Howard Methodist church, she initiated and actively participates in the Howard Winter Carnival yearly, and also cooks for many of the various functions held at the church including making all the soups for the churches soup sale during the Spring on a yearly basis."

Harvest Season at the Shop

Dear Dinner Family,

It's harvest time which makes it officially the busiest month of the year that is if you are a pack rat like me and want to see the freezer and canned good shelf stocked before winter sets in. Of course the habits of my personal life tend to carry over into the business so it's no surprise that we are ordering bushels of green beans from my local produce outlet, then cleaning and blanching them all. It's a bit labor intensive but the quality of these green beans versus the frozen store bought ones is incomparable. So if you stop by the shop and see one of the gals cleaning a pile of green beans wish them a good day!

It's all in preparation for our Thanksgiving Meal that will be here in a flash. Part of what makes this meal so great is the thoughtful process of curating each item with ingredients that are wholesome and taste, just like grandma made it. You won't find this kind of food offered just anywhere or on the corner of every street, no, it's hard to find because it doesn't fit mass production. This brand was built upon cooking from scratch, harvesting and long evenings gathered around the dinner table. I'm so grateful I get the opportunity to share it with you all.

Congrats to this week’s Happy Valley Hero: Marc Burns of Pleasant Gap 🤩

"Marc selflessly volunteers with the Pleasant Gap Fire Department and EMS. He also volunteers with the local boyscout troop, Bellefonte Cross Country and Track & Field. He does all of this with a smile on his face. Marc will help anyone at anytime and he deserves to be recognized for all he does in his “spare” time.
Oh, and he does all this while working a full-time position at Penn State and teaching a college course in IT!"

You may notice the price on our Shepherd's Pie has gone up. We don't take pricing changes lightly, but the truth is this one has been priced below what it actually costs us to make. We'd rather raise the price and keep making it right than quietly shrink it or change what goes into it.

Thank you for understanding, and for trusting us to make these calls carefully. This one is still made the same way it always has been, just priced so we can keep making it for you.

Congrats to this week’s Happy Valley Hero: Debbie Burger of Bellefonte 🩷🧡

“Debbie commits so much time and effort into initiating and helping with the Hometown Heroes Banners program for the Bellefonte Boro, recently she took on the heading up the parade celebrating the 250 Celebration of America.. Besides these efforts mentioned she is a big advocate for Veterans in general and the POW/MIA program keeping it in the forefront as much as possible to get a full accounting of MIA,s. Last year, along with other family members completed a Veterans/POW/MIA memorial at the Grange Fair Encampment. All this while running the tax collection office for the Bellefonte Boro and being co-owner of a beauty salon in the State College area.”
