PSA: if you come to our farm, knock on our door and no one answers- it is NOT a good idea to then open our front door. We are armed. Always.

This afternoon around 12:20 PM this happened on our farm. The man was very fortunate he turned around and left. Amanda was the only one home. She had her .22 on her as she locked herself in the bedroom, was quiet, pretended not to be home, and hoped he would leave. He did. He is very fortunate. If he had not, this could have been a very different turn out. It also would have been a very different story if any of our children were home with her. She would not have stayed locked in her room with her gun.

Do NOT open our door uninvited unless 1. We know you or 2. You really want to meet your maker.

If you are the man who did this today, the Sheriff’s Dept has been notified and has your photo.

Georgia's "Stand Your Ground" law (O.C.G.A. § 16-3-23.1) allows individuals to use reasonable force, including deadly force, for self-defense without a duty to retreat if they are in a place they have a legal right to be. The law applies when a person reasonably believes such force is necessary to prevent death, great bodily harm, or a forcible felony.

Camden County Fire Rescue and Camden County EMA are providing mutual aid to our neighbors in Brantley County. While our people are on the ground helping out, we are not equipped to function as a collection point or distribution center for donated items.
