Liberty PBA

Liberty PBA This page is created as the official Liberty Police Benevolent Association. Keeping the community up to date on events and outreaches in the community.

The Liberty PBA is an organization comprised of Liberty Police Department members. These members have not only committed their lives to protect the citizens of the Village of Liberty, but they also commit their personal money and their personal time to make our community a better place. Members pay dues out of every paycheck to maintain their standing in the PBA. These funds go to events in the co

mmunity and the needs of citizens, as well as the needs for the department that are outside the funds from the village. The PBA participates in many Community outreaches and provides goods and monetary donations to causes deemed worthy by its members. Our belief is that a community can be fixed when people care enough to step up and step in. The children in the community is where we focus most because they are our future. We rely on donations from others to continue funding the causes we fund.

To Whom It May Concern,

The Liberty Police Benevolent Association (PBA) issues this statement to express its firm opposition to the hiring of Yeremia Solomon, also known as “Jay Solomon,” as a Constable in the Village of Monticello.

It is deeply troubling and unacceptable that an individual who has admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old minor is being entrusted with a position of public authority. While we recognize that a conviction was not secured due to a clerical error, the admission itself raises serious concerns regarding judgment, integrity, and fitness for a role that is fundamentally rooted in protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.

The Liberty PBA does not condone this decision. Allowing such an appointment undermines public trust and casts a shadow over the professionalism and dedication of the many law enforcement officers and constables who serve honorably every day. This situation damages the credibility of our profession and erodes the confidence that the public places in those sworn to protect and serve in Sullivan County.

We also acknowledge and support the efforts of the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office, which has taken steps to ensure a Constabulary was lawfully established and is currently pursuing criminal action against Yeremia “Jay” Solomon for allegedly filing a false instrument.

In the interest of maintaining integrity, accountability, and public trust, we strongly urge the appropriate authorities to take immediate action. Yeremia “Jay” Solomon should be removed from his position without delay.

The Liberty PBA remains committed to upholding the highest standards in law enforcement and ensuring that those who serve our communities meet the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

This past Thursday we celebrated the swearing in of Mathew Brooks as a police officer here at LPD and the promotion of Officer Brandon Persell (also our PBA President ) to Detective Brandon Persell. (A promotion well deserved ) . Mathew fits in like a corner puzzle piece and is already making a difference to a safer community. We are truly a blessed department. Congrats men.
