When you're helping get a calf back in the fence and discover the most beautiful nature surprises 😍

This little patch of milkweed just outside the fence was buzzing with several kinds of bees, fluttering with butterflies, and even had a hummingbird moth! Yes, I was geeking out over insects instead of actually being helpful with getting the calf in, but she's back where she's supposed to be and I have pictures of butterflies now soooo... 😅

How gorgeous are these veggies that were just delivered from ?!? 😍

If you haven't noticed, the major food system is broken. With food shortages, animal abuse, literal poisoning of our food supply, and the recent parasite outbreak, it is time to choose differently. Finding and supporting your local farmers is critical to food security, strengthening relationships in your local community, and having trust in how your food is produced.

Want to know how to find local food?
1. Shop at your local farmers market! We'll be at The Franklinton Market from 9-12 this Saturday 7/18!
2. Ask a friend who already shops local
3. Look in community Facebook groups (look for local groups that are "crunchy," "holistic," "natural," etc.)
4. Websites like Visit NC Farms (has a searchable map of local food and farm events near you), Meatsuite, local hen, eat from farms, etc.
5. Weston A. Price Foundation
6. If you're close by, send a message! I'm happy to share info on farmers that we support here in Franklin & surrounding counties!

Here's the cool part: you don't have to overwhelm yourself by overhauling your whole food supply at once. Start by buying a dozen eggs or a cut of meat once a week and increase from there. Change can be gradual, but it must be intentional! Get out there and support your local farmers! 👩🏼‍🌾
