Bouchard Family EVOO is here!

We are so excited to release the final drop of our 2020 harvest & close out our first European season 🤍

The Bouchards carefully selected and hand-harvested the oldest trees on their Quinta for this lot ~ the result is a beautifully balanced & fruity Portuguese EVOO.

This oil has taken us on such a special journey ~ from reconnecting to the Bouchards to learning how to import EVOO for the first time. We’re so honored to finally share it 🕊

Follow the link in our bio to purchase a bottle & to learn more about the Bouchards.

All orders will come with a Meet the Grower card and a family recipe for Red Pepper Tart Tatin x

Welcome Lot 1 of Podere Gualandi EVOO đź’«

Our 2020 EVOO release is almost here ~

We’re so excited to close the cycle of last season and finally share that we’ve brought in a small lot of organically farmed EVOO from friends in Italy & Portugal this year.

So many moments led us to this one, and we can’t wait to share the stories of these growers in the weeks to come ~ starting with Guido Gualandi of the Montespertoli region in Florence.

Podere Gualandi EVOO will be available in small quantities at the end of March, with a second lot soon to follow 🤍

In the meantime, read more about Guido & his growing practices via the link in our bio.

The sweetest treat for your Valentine ~ flourless chocolate balsamic cake all dressed up in rose petals 🤍

There are endless ways to make this traditional Italian torta, but here’s our take ~

1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar Tradizionale
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup brewed espresso or coffee
1 cup walnuts, chopped & toasted
9 oz extra dark chocolate chips
7 tbsp unsalted butter
4 eggs, separated
1 cup sugar
Sea salt

Start by preheating the oven to 325 degrees. While you wait, prepare a 10-inch round baking pan by greasing it generously with butter. Dust cocoa powder over the base of the pan and flip upside down to discard extra cocoa bits. Set aside.

Then, coarsely chop your walnuts and toast them in the oven until golden. While they bake, melt butter & chocolate together in a double boiler, ensuring no water seeps into the mixture. Once the chocolate chips & butter are fully melted together, remove from heat and set aside.

Using an electric kitchen mixer, incorporate egg yolks and sugar until creamy. Then, slowly add in your chocolate / butter mix, toasted walnuts, BV Tradizionale, espresso & a pinch of sea salt. Once this all comes together and begins to appear a bit creamy, set it aside.

In a separate mixer, beat egg whites just until they begin to form stiff peaks. Then, using a spatula, fold them into the chocolate mixture until they’re fully dissolved. Transfer to the prepped baking pan and bake for 30-40 minutes.

As a finishing touch, we drizzled melted extra dark chocolate over top & then sprinkled crushed rose petals! You could also top with sifted powdered sugar, calendula or corn flower petals, whipped cream or candied citrus!

Valentine’s Day is one of our favorites ~ we hope this recipe brings a little love into your kitchen this year 🌹
