Dear regulars turned friends: PlantAction is taking a break from our current certified farmers markets and but plans on coming back in the near future! In the meantime, we’ll add more of our markets’ items to our website so that you’ll have a chance to still order them if you’d like, and those could be picked up in San Pedro or delivered to you! Spinach and artichoke quiche has been a hit, so we’ll continue for as long as you ask for it - incredibly crunchy, free of gluten crust, firm yet soft filling that truly emulates an egg quiche, without the yucky 🤢 egg scent 😅🙏🏼

We’ve been making an effort to transition back into more whole food, plant-based meals at the HQ. This is a beautiful nicecream that’s definitely going to get anyone ready for their day. Additionals are optional, I just like to add everything I need in a day in a meal instead of finding a way to consume them, lol! Plus, they add heartiness and boldness to a dish regardless! Recipe below: 🌱1 frozen banana (mango works wonders for nicecream as well FYI) 🌱1/4 C frozen pineapple 🌱1/3 C OJ (water if you’d rather go fully ) 🌱 1/2 tsp maca root powder (adaptogenic for stress, hormonal regulation) 🌱turmeric + touch black pepper to activate 🌱 pinky-size piece of fresh ginger. Blend that baby up, and top with your fat source of choice - if you’d like, we suggest our uh-mazing lavender/blueberry granola, available online, by delivery, and always at on Sundays and on Fridays. Remember: granola is a treat, just to add healthy fats (at least in our recipes 🤪) and crunch. It’s not the star of the meal 😉👍

🌱1 frozen banana, 1/2 C frozen mango, small piece of fresh ginger, dash of turmeric and black pepper (thermogenic to get you going with energy for your day), just enough plant-based milk to get it moving but not become a smoothie. Our amazing Mandarin/Coconut granola on top is just a little treat for extra healthy fat and crunch ;)

What is the concept of ‘Meatless Mondays’? It’s a step in the direction of adding more plant-based items in your diet by refraining from animal products once a week. It won’t be overly restrictive, it might be fun to use your creativity and get to try exciting new combinations of veggies you might otherwise never have a chance to, and significantly reduce your carbon footprint by reducing your animal consumption! See below more info, quoted from the University of Colorado’s website:
“Meatless Monday is of utmost importance especially in the United States, as we consume much more animal products than the rest of the world.

The meat industry uses vast amounts of our finite fossil fuels and water and lots of grain to feed livestock, which is extremely inefficient. Why not use those resources to feed people more directly?

About 1,850 gallons of water is needed to produce a singular pound of beef, comparable to only 39 gallons of water per pound of vegetables. A vegetarian diet alone could dramatically reduce water consumption by 58% per person!

Meat production also is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, which has proven to correlate to the climate change crisis.

Some benefits of eating plant-based once a week include:

Save 133 gallons of water with each meatless meal!

Reduce your carbon footprint by 8 pounds each Meatless Monday you participate in

Frustrating start of the morning when I was so ready for my 10-miler with the Leggers and as I got to my car, it just wouldn’t turn on 🤦🏻‍♀️
