Cheboygan Brewing Company Tucked away along the shore of Lake Huron, Cheboygan Brewing Company's story begins in the 19th century.

While once deep-rooted in German brewing traditions, it has now transformed into the modern alehouse as it is known today. Cheboygan Brewing Company first began in 1872 when the town of Cheboygan played an important role in the logging industry. The brewery grew from there but closed in 1911 as the lumber business moved on. In 2011 two entrepreneurs who were inspired by the heritage of the origina

l Cheboygan Brewing Company and the beauty of Northern Michigan, decided to open the brewery once again. They assembled a dynamic team of Michiganders to transform Cheboygan Brewing Company from its original German traditions to the modern alehouse it is today. The city of Cheboygan is a northern hub and a vacationer’s dream with endless trails, pristine forests, and beautiful, sparkling inland waterways within minutes of each other. The enjoyment of the outdoors is where we draw our inspiration from in the handcrafted beers we create. We celebrate the relaxed, pure nature of Northern Michigan in every sip and aim to provide that vacation feeling, anywhere. From our sparkling Great Lakes to the sparkling bubbles in your glass, we all raise a toast to Northern Michigan.

During American Craft Beer Week, we partnered with Ninja Monkey Tattoo to raise money for the Cheboygan County Humane Society. Their artists created custom flash sheets inspired by beer, Cheboygan, dogs, nature, and CBCo. Over the week, they completed 200 flash tattoos and donated 100% of the profits. Thanks to their effort, we were able to match the first $5,000, bringing the total to $15,000 raised for the shelter. We’re incredibly proud of the Ninja Monkey team and grateful to everyone who got a cool tattoo for a great cause.

To celebrate, Ninja Monkey Bread is back on tap for a limited time. We also got to enjoy some sunshine on the patio with Sailor, an adoptable 3‑month‑old Great Pyrenees puppy.

Last month we raised $638 for the Headwaters Chapter of Trout Unlimited. With donations like these the Headwaters Chapter is able to conserve, protect, and restore northeastern Michigan's cold-water fisheries through conservation, education, and outreach activities. Tie-One-On is one of the outreach activities this organization does, which we will be hosting along with Cheboygan Coffee Roasters tonight at 6pm in the taproom!

Last weekend reminded us why Cheboygan Brewing Company exists: community, memories, and the people who make this town feel like home. A big thank you to our friends, family, and fans who came out to celebrate our fifteenth-year anniversary with us. Your support is what makes this place so special, and thank you for your patience while our amazing staff worked to get beers in hands. A huge shoutout to Eric Wheeler and Jessie Moulder of Anna P's Mediterranean food truck, who treated everyone to a throwback menu from their Moulder’s Mobile Mouthfuls days. We were lucky to have a soundtrack worthy of the moment, thanks to longtime local favorites Nate King and Charlie Reager, along with the rising talent of The Lonely Pines. We celebrated in true Cheboygan fashion by tapping a Firkin of German Chocolate Cake Stout, a sweet reminder of how far we’ve come and how much we love brewing for this community. Weekends like this are why we do what we do. Cheboygan Brewing Company has always been about shared stories, familiar faces, and the spirit of a town that shows up for each other. Here’s to more memories, more music, and more moments together. Cheers to Cheboygan and our amazing community!
