Developing new product means cutting through the noise and deciphering for yourself what works and doesn’t work. No preconceived notions, only curiosity and an instinct to listen to what 30 years of bike development has taught me. Right now, I see all the same patterns happening with 32” wheels that happened with 29” wheels. People doing everything they can to tuck the rear wheel in and steepen the head tube angle to account for the larger diameter and increased trail. I made the same mistakes too when we first launched Niner. But I’m not going back. Long chainstays? Bring it on. Slack head tube angle Sure. Slackish anyway. For reference, the wheelbase of this bike is still an inch shorter than the Dérive 29” in the same size.
