Now for part two of Apitherapy. This therapy hasn't hit mainstream yet but studies have been promising. Doctors aren't a hundred percent sure why it seems to be helping, but in the studies that have been done it really has shown to be good particularly for those suffering from long term issues such as COPD. Granted they are continuing therapy. Another therapy that is being studied is meditating on top of a bee hive. Meditating in itself is already very beneficial but given the added hum and buzz of the bees as a sort of white noise it makes sense the meditation would go deeper and leave you more relaxed. Then there's the tried and true bee vemon therapy. Specifically good for arthritis. Unfortunately with this therapy the bee looses its life. But considering the queen lays up to 3,000 eggs a day. The ones who were used for medicine will be replaced plus more to spare. They believe vemon therapy works by stimulating our immune system and raising our cortisol levels by introducing a foreign intruder (bee venom) its said to help with immune issues, goat, Osteoporosis, fertility and even lymes disease. My husband has lymes and he has said while he hates being stung, it does help when his joints start hurting because of the lymes.
Bees are fascinating little creatures and its exciting to see what new studies will be done on bees and their benefits to us, beyond just pollination.
Friendly reminder we still have honey for sale. I sent 3 packages out today and have one going out soon. We also have candles for sale as well. We are also excited to announce plans for an observation hive at the Apiary. So keep an eye out on details and come by to see the inner workings of a hive without having to worry about the stings. ✌❤🐝

As per request, today we are going to go into some of the other health benefits you can get from bees. (Its not just about the honey you know)
Did you know beekeepers are said to live longer and suffer less health issues than most other professions? Really its true. But how?

When you're a beekeeper part of your job is to inspect the hives, to get a visual of how your bees are doing, if they need anything and to see of the queen is laying eggs. You have to physically open the hive and inspect. So how does that involve health benefits?
The air in a hive is full of the smells of beeswax, propolis and honey. As well as bees lol. Beeswax naturally cleans and refreshes the air (thats why beeswax candles are more expensive and better for sensitive people), propolis, which is the "glue" bees produce from tree resin to cover up any holes in the hive for reduced air flow, has a hole lot of benefits. Its said to be cancer fighting, antibacterial, antimicrobial, yeast fighting, a natural parasite killer, and is even being studied as a fertility aid for women suffering from endometriosis. Pretty neat huh? Lastly you have honey, but we already went through all those benefits.

So when we as beekeepers open the hives we get bombarded (in the best way) with concentrated amounts of hive air, including all the fore mentioned benefits. Its no wonder beekeepers live longer. For a small apiary like us with 2 strong hives (more to come but 2 for now) we don't get a whole lot of contact with it, but for bigger apiaries with 50 plus hives they can easily spend 8hrs or more opening and inspecting hives. Pretty cool huh? Tomorrow I'll go more in depth. But for now Im out of space on the post. ✌❤🐝

Alrighty, so we dove into mythology yesterday, so today let's look at some bee folklore.

Bees are associated with fae. (Fairy..but not the Disney version) and bees in your garden is said to be blessings by the fae. It also suggests that killing bees is unlucky. As it may anger the fae. (Besides that, why kill bees? We need them if we want to continue to live and eat and all.)

A bee landing on your hand is supposed to mean you will receive money.

A bee landing on your head suggests you will be successful in life.

A bee flying into your home is lucky and suggests a stranger or friend is on their way. Hoever, kill the bee in your home and its said that stranger or friend brings bad news.

Seeing a single bee is supposed to be good luck!

Bees buzzing around a child's head suggests that child will have a happy, successful life.

Dreaming of bees? Its said that dreaming of bees is a good omen and suggests that a family member or friend may be trying to get a hold of you to chat.

Well that was an interesting bit of info. Sounds to me like we should all agree not to kill bees, juuusstt in case it may truelly be bad luck.

Now onto more formal things. We still have some honey to sell! All sizes of spring honey are avaliable. We also have candles. Our candles are clean burning with no perfumes or dyes. Just wax. (And h**p wick of course)

Place your orders soon! Supplies are limited. When its gone..its gone.

Now, what should tomorrows topic bee? Any suggestions are welcome. I'm running low on ideas here. So please interact with this post, share and suggest some topics relating to bees that may interest you. Or more of a topic I already went over that interests you and you want to have a look at more in dept.

So we know honey is a super food and all that. However, do we know about bees in mythology?

Ancient Egyptian Pharoah's used bees as a symbol of royalty. To them the bee represented resurrection and protection.

In Greece they believed a bee landing on a child's lips meant that the child would grow up to be a great poet or speaker. They also saw the bee as a symbol of hardworking, industry, obedience and were seen as messengers of the dead. Honey was often used as an offering for the gods. Zues was said to have been saved by honey water as a child after his mother saved him from Cronos eating him. They also thought of bees as the surviving souls of the priestesses of Aphrodite.

The ancient Druids believed that bees represented the sun, the goddess, celebration and community.

In Celtics mythology bees were thought to have great wisdom, and were thought of to be messagers between the two worlds. (The dead and the living)

Some cultures also view bees as being symbols of purity, wealth, health and of the human soul.

Bees are interesting little critters and learning more about their mythology and how there's themes within each culture is fascinating.

Don't forget we still have honey, but won't for long. 8oz jars are $10, pint honey is $20 and delicious pure honey bomb with honey is $30. S&H is $20 (inflation is real and sucks.) Message us to place your order!

In honor of our surprise honey harvest I figured we should go over just how much of a "super food" honey and honey comb is. Honeycomb contains calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc as well as vitamin C, B6, B12, A, E, and D It also contains protein. Honey comb may contain small amounts of Royal Jelly, Pollen and Propolis all of which have been studied for their immune boosting properties. Honey comb contains both antimicrobial and antibacterial properties as well as containing antioxidants that may help lower the risk of diabetes, dementia, heart disease and certain types of cancer. It also provides long chain fatty acids and alcohols that are shown to lower cholesterol. Raw Honey also contains pollen, royal jelly and propolis and has antifungal, and antibacterial properties. Honey is even used in wound care in hospitals to protect from infection and promote healing. Honey is a gut friendly food containing prebiotic too. For centuries honey has been used as a natural cough suppressant as well as a sleep aid too. Can white sugar do that?

Supplies of our honey are limited so order soon. We also have candles made from 100% beeswax for sale as well! 👍❤🐝
