We SO appreciate Misfit Homestead & Rescue for opening their doors and taking our goats, pig and 4 cats! They do incredible work and deserve all the help they can get- I donated two big bags of supplies to help out with the animals they took in and am hoping others will do the same.

This is a big one…

Our second gold mine Cunucu sibling has been adopted!

Allie, FKA Alba or “Whitey” has gone to her PERFECT forever home with the most amazing new owners! Congrats Joanna and family!

I am so beyond proud of how far this girl has come since arriving here a mere 6 months ago.
These are dogs who people talked about euthanizing due to how fearful they are, dogs nobody wanted to take on or work with.

But we took a chance on them, and look at them now! Allie is settling right into her new home, and it won’t be long before she’s queen of the household. She’s already proven she walks great outside, sleeps perfectly content in her own bed, is polite, and more. She’s even taken an interest in toys already!

And since some ask about him as well, Cosmo is also doing FABULOUS with his adopters. The shy, scared dogs nobody thought had a chance, are finally normal, happy dogs.

Now we just need to find Sahara the perfect home ❤️

I don’t know what we’d do without our amazing vet clinic- Willow Springs Veterinary Clinic

I had to cancel the kittens’ appointments yesterday as I could not find a volunteer to bring them today, and the clinic reached out today letting me know that one of the ROCKSTAR techs there, Andres, was willing to pick up the kittens and bring them back later today so they can still be seen and get their vaccinations.

THANK YOU GUYS! We appreciate you so much!

(Enjoy this photo of Larry David with Jasper and Ginny- I’m still unsure of his thoughts about sharing his water dish with the babies 🤣)

UPDATE: Alba has been adopted

Hi everyone, here are all of the animals currently in our care that we need SAFE landings for- whether they get adopted or transferred to another rescue or sanctuary. These dogs will NOT under any circumstance end up in a shelter where they will be potentially neglected of the one on one care each one needs, or euthanized- as some have speculated.
Pictures of the pups are in order of their descriptions. I will be working on getting updated photos.

FREYA
Freya is a gorgeous, lovable deaf pittie with the biggest heart and love for everybody she meets. She is house trained, crate trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and knows basic commands using hand signals. She is very food motivated. She is a high energy girl that would love walking, going on jogs, hiking, etc.
She does get along with most dogs- however she has a LOT of energy while playing and a lot of dogs cannot handle this. She resource guards from other dogs (never people) so can NEVER be around other dogs with any type of food, toy or high value item. She also has a very high prey drive and cannot be housed with cats or other animals.

RAVE
This goofy girl is a BIG lover and wants all of the attention, always. She loves playtime with both people and other dogs, although she can be dog selective sometimes. She is easily redirected. Rave wants to learn and is very food motivated. She is medium/high energy and would do well with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. She is crate trained, potty trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and knows basic commands. She has a very high prey drive and cannot be housed with cats or other animals.

ALBA
Alba was one of three siblings dumped in Aruba, scared of everything/everyone and almost impossible to work with. She flew to me in the states and I’ve been working with her ever since. I can confidently say this girl WILL be somebody’s best friend. She happily gets leashed up for walks, does the cutest dances for treats, and asks for attention often. She has a goofy and playful personality. She gets along great with other dogs and cats, and has been introduced to goats, pigs and ducks with no problems. She truly is a great little dog- the con? She takes a while to warm up and doesn’t always want to be around people/commotion. A nice quiet home would be ideal for her, where she can run and play with all the toys she wants, and where her space will be respected. She is crate trained, potty trained, spayed and up to date on vaccinations. We have not started basic training yet as I’ve been working on bonding and getting her to trust me. She loves following me around the house.

SAHARA
Alba’s sister, Sahara, is the more shy and avoidant sibling. While she’ll happily take treats from you and get leashed up to enjoy a walk, she prefers to stick to herself and her toys. She is not a dog to ask for attention or want to be pet, but she has allowed it. She is great with dogs and cats, and has been introduced to goats, pigs and ducks with no issues. She also needs a quiet home with somebody who will have the patience to allow her to warm up to them, and give her space to just live and be a dog. She is crate trained, potty trained, spayed and up to date on vaccinations. We have not started basic training yet as I’ve been working on bonding and getting her to trust me.

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to write, and our hearts are completely broken as we type these words.

Today, we officially have to say what we never wanted to say. We have to close our doors, now.

After everything we’ve poured into this rescue, everything we’ve fought through, today was the final blow. Our outdoor kennels were destroyed, and with no remaining funds to rebuild, repair, or move forward, we are out of options. We have done everything we possibly can, and we have reached the point where love alone is no longer enough to keep going.

Right now, our biggest concern isn’t us. It’s them.

We are desperately looking for fellow rescues who may be able to step in and take in our remaining four dogs and our kittens. We are not just asking for placements. We are asking for partners who will truly see them. Rescues who will take the time to understand their individual needs, continue their growth, and help them become the dogs and cats we know they can be. Rescues who will advocate for them, work with them, and ultimately help them find the best possible families.

These animals are not numbers. They are lives we have promised to protect.

Each one of them came to us scared, unsure, and in need of hope. We watched them start to trust. We watched personalities emerge. We watched tails wag, walls come down, and love grow. The thought of failing them is crushing.

And for that, we are so deeply sorry.

We are sorry that we couldn’t do more. We are sorry that we couldn’t protect them from this ending. We are sorry that despite every late night, every sacrifice, every ounce of heart we gave, it still wasn’t enough. This decision is not coming from a lack of love, effort, or commitment. It is coming from a lack of resources and a situation we cannot recover from. But that doesn’t make the guilt hurt any less.

We never imagined it would end like this.

If you are a rescue with space, experience, and the ability to take in a dog or kittens who deserve stability and a future, please reach out. If you know of a rescue that may be able to help, please share this post. Time is not on our side, and we want to ensure every single one of them lands somewhere safe, responsible, and loving.

To our supporters, volunteers, fosters, and everyone who believed in us… thank you. Truly. We are so sorry that we couldn’t make this work longer. We are so grateful for every share, every donation, every message, and every ounce of trust you gave us. We did everything we could, and we made a difference while we were here.

Please help us do one last, most important thing- make sure these animals don’t lose their chance at the life they deserve.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and caring.

Remember those three kittens we pulled from a wood pile? Well, here’s the update.

Those three got adopted and are living their best lives- but momma cat (AKA Gracie) managed to hide TWO MORE from us!

She decided to move in under my back porch and spent every day playing in the enclosed porch with her kittens. Combine that with a live trap and some irresistible canned kitten food- and we have ourselves two more kittens and Gracie herself!

Next steps are to get all three of them fixed and find the kittens the perfect homes.

HERE’S WHERE WE NEED HELP-
We are almost completely out of funds. We get it, it’s a bad area for rescues, it’s hard here. Everybody’s having a rough time. This is the reason we have to close our doors for good.
But we have a whopping $50 left in our account and still have 7 adoptable animals in our care, the new cats bringing us up to 10!
Getting the three newbies fixed costs us $35 each- $105 total. We also need to order more cat and kitten food- as we are nearly out (we have PLENTY of dog food still!). This costs us about $20 for a big bag.

We have a goal to raise just $200 to get these cats sterilized and get them food.

And finally, here are the two pretty babies that managed to escape us the first time around

Freya is a high-energy pittie with a huge heart who is just waiting to find her person. She truly loves all people and soaks up attention from anyone willing to give it. Because of her strong prey drive, Freya would do best as the only animal in the home, where she can be your one and only.

She’s an active girl who would thrive in a household that enjoys getting out and doing things, walks, playtime, adventures, you name it. Freya adores kids, but due to her enthusiasm and energy, she would be happiest in a home with older children who can keep up with her zest for life.

And while she has plenty of energy to burn, don’t be fooled, this girl is also a world-class cuddler. After a day of fun, Freya is more than happy to curl up on the couch and be your loyal, snuggly companion.

If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will keep you moving and then gladly settle in for some quality cuddle time, Freya might just be your perfect match. 🐾💗

While one of these was a little while ago, we still want to announce it.

Congratulations to 3 of our pups, Monkey, Cosmo and Ella on finding their forever families!
We are so proud of these three, especially Ella and Cosmo (2 of our extremely shy dogs).

They are in the happiest and most loving homes. Thank you to all three families for opening up your hearts and homes to rescue dogs!

This is a post we never imagined we would have to write.

After many long conversations, sleepless nights and a whole lot of soul-searching, we have made the incredibly hard decision to completely close intake at Hope Farms and Sanctuary. Our adoption rate and donations simply haven’t been enough to sustain the level of care, support and commitment that our animals deserve. And once the animals currently in our care find their forever homes, we will be closing our doors for good.

Typing those words hardly feels real.

For years, this community has stood by us. You’ve donated when we asked, shared our posts when we begged for help, opened your homes to animals who needed you and supported us in ways we will never be able to repay. Because of you, hundreds of animals were rescued, healed, loved and given the second chances they deserved. Because of you, lives changed. Because of you, we were able to be “Hope” for so many.

We want you to know how deeply grateful we are. Every volunteer, every adopter, every foster, every share, every kind word, every dollar… it all mattered. You carried this rescue on your shoulders and helped us come this far. We will forever be thankful for the love this community has poured into our mission.

Although this chapter is ending, our passion for helping animals is not. Once this transition is complete, we will continue doing what we can, just not in the same way, and not under the Hope Farms and Sanctuary name. But our hearts will always be in rescue, and our love for these creatures will never fade.

Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for believing in our animals. Thank you for being our Hope.

-Maddison and all of us at Hope Farms and Sanctuary ❤️
