Demonstrating how to take all the slack out of the reins so R***r puts his head down, giving to the lightest contact. I overemphasized the one rein then the other, if the head comes back up so my student could see it. When we take the slack out, we need to keep our heels on, until he picks up the trot, then release immediately, looking where we are going. R***r as you can see barely made the transition from walk to trot the first pass. He prefers to amble, or mosey.

Course everything goes to he$ # when you add speed. R***r has always had a hard time holding himself together at a canter. Could be lack of practice. Trying to work off some winter weight.
