We made it through the night.. it was touch and go with all the rain and tornado warnings.. the dogs were inside and all the goaties huddled up in their sheds..

This is one of the most scariest nights we have faced here on the homestead..

Screw-worm update

Had a very productive informational session with TX animal health commission and Tx parks and wildlife..

Key points

1) Check your stock daily if not daily atleast every 2 days
2) Check for unusual smell or head shaking or any uncomfortable gestures from the animals.
3) If you are outside the infected and surveillance zone no movement restrictions. If inside then you have to get a permit from TAHC which is good for 5 days..
4) As what we know and the government officials are telling us they are pouring resources into this ( my personal opinion is it is a little too late)

I hope and pray we can contain this.. but we all need to work together..

Good information to have.. I have always believed in checking your stock as I firmly believe the animals talk to you.. be extra vigilant.. fear mongering helps no one.

As things progress, there will be publications coming out from official sources. Please utilize these and not rage bait media posts or posts from politicians. This is a serious issue, and needs to be handled efficiently.

Like we’ve said before, this is not a barn fire. There will be clear processes to treat livestock, transport livestock, and sell livestock. It will take an extra step or two, but nothing we can’t handle.

Remember, there are pre-treatments medicines that were not here in the previous outbreak. And many treatment options if you get an infected animal. If you have any questions, always consult with your local vet.

For the general public- there will be 0 animals infected ever make it into the supply chain. There are protocols from the ranch to the processing plant. American Beef is safe and will continue to be, which is more than we can say for foreign beef!
