We still have chicks (2-4 weeks), pullets and adult chickens available. I’m so thankful for the dozens of birds and eggs you’ve all picked up. I’m thankful for the kind new friends I’ve made as well.

We now have less than half of what we started with.

Please reach out or make arrangements to come choose what you’d like.
Some chicks are sexed at hatch.
Pullets are near point of lay and breeders are currently laying.

Update: I will get back to everyone Monday. Thank you 😊

Unfortunately we are moving and will be walking away from chickens for the foreseeable future. We have some lovely birds that I absolutely adore.
Some are looking a bit rough as it’s mid breeding season but everyone is healthy and we are still NPIP certified.

Please reach out with any questions. I’m happy to share about the origin of our lines. Once eggs leave the original breeders program they go a completely different direction and are combined with other lines. I don’t care to name drop unless I’m asked specifically. These are not hatchery lines.

Thank you for supporting our small business!!

Tuesday’s “pop up” chick sale went really well, especially for a last minute event. It was a bit chaotic and we appreciate everyone bearing with us. We have a few ideas to make the next one even better.

Seeing so many of you in line honestly blew us away. I apologize for our late arrival! Your encouragement and support means a lot. 🥰

It was truly a joy meeting fellow chicken enthusiasts (hoarders 😁). I would love to continue some of the conversations we started.

We have loved seeing photos of your chicks getting cozy in their new homes. Please keep sharing.
We love seeing them settle in.

The continued support from this community has been incredible and as a thank you we’re doing a giveaway. Details coming soon! 😊

Chicks will be hatching from now until mid May.

The next event is Friday March 13th in Meridian.
More info coming ASAP.

If you would like to see a chick pop up in your town or closer to home please reach out! 😊🐥

We will not have all of our breeds available today. We set this hatch early in February and many hens were not yet off their break.
The next two hatches will contain more variety.
Today we have mainly Silverudds, Welsummers, multigen olives, a handful of mosaics and a couple others.

Here is a temporary price list. We will see how this “flying by the seat of our pants” plays out.

In the coming days we will post breed spotlights with photos of adults, chicks and eggs.

Please continue to reach out if there is anything specific you are looking for.
Forgive my slow replies. It’s madness over here.

We've been quietly tending our business behind the scenes as we prepare for the 2026 chick season.

Last summer we were approached by the Meridian Feed Mill and asked to sell our chicks exclusively through their store. The idea had been mentioned a few times previously.

We intentionally chose not to advertise chicks or hatching eggs through our page. With plans to sell exclusively through the store we didn't focus on updating our business page, opening preorders or increasing our online presence.

We were encouraged to "hatch as many chicks per breed as possible" each week so we began setting eggs accordingly. At this point we have well over 300 eggs in incubators with chicks hatching this very moment.

Within days of our first chicks hatching we were informed that the price we had agreed upon was being changed.

After careful consideration we agreed that a 50% split is simply not workable for our small locally focused breeding program.

We understand several other long standing local breeders have also chosen to step away under these new terms.

We will continue setting eggs and offering chicks as planned.
Our first chicks will be available Tuesday, March 3.

Chicks will now be sold directly to the public and at several local venues throughout the spring. More details to follow on sales and events!!

Wildhaven is NPIP certified and we will likely begin offering hatching eggs for shipment once chick season slows.

We will update our business page with breed information, pricing and availability.
We appreciate your patience as we adjust course and thank you for supporting small, independent breeders.

We are looking forward to the season ahead.

Please support our fellow local breeders.
I myself have also purchased birds from them via the mill over the years.

Jolene shouldn't be blamed or harassed for this situation. She worked tirelessly to bring the community and local breeders together with the goal of building connection. Even though things didn't go as planned she encouraged buyers to support local breeders, especially given the sometimes devastating
consequences of receiving chicks that haven't been treated well during shipping.

Hello poultry friends in Treasure Valley.
Important sad chick season update.

I'm sharing this post from my friend at Chicory Ranch cause what she said is basically everything I want to say. But I may add some.

The past few years several local breeders have enjoyed sharing unique, hard to find & show quality breeds by offering them to you through Meridian Feed Mill and having a “breeder drop off “morning that was seriously more like an event with friends. We have loved being there with you helping you pick out your farm dream floofs. Unfortunately going forward this will no longer be happening.

Last week we were informed(indirectly, not even personally) by the Meridian Feed Mill General Manager that we would need to accept different (and extreme in comparison to the past) margin in selling our chicks. This was done a week before our first day of chicks season with no previous discussion or preparation. Basically/ it’s my way or the highway.

The feed mill General Manager does not care about community nor has he ever, he is all about money. He also doesn't know how to treat people with respect, he had to make Jolene deliver this news because he himself isn't man enough to talk with us directly or try to come to a agreement that works for both sides. He put us in a rough spot because we've all been setting eggs to hatch for the mill now for weeks, so we have all these chicks that were promised to the Meridian Feed Mill sitting here at our place. I don't have room for all these chicks. I have room to keep them for a couple days until delivery. But he doesn't care about that. He also doesn't care about the fact my labor and cost of power to supply the store with these beautiful birds is eaten at my own cost unless I can sell these chicks and make up some of that.

My personal decision to not sell to Meridian Feed Mill is for a couple reasons. The first is that this was completely unprofessional in any business sense and disrespectful to the breeders who have supported and promoted Meridian Feed Mill as a business with great products and integrity for several years.

The second reason I have stepped back is that agreeing to their terms does not make financial sense. I already sell specialty breeds and lose money but I’ve been happy to break even if the community is exposed to fun breeds they would otherwise have to ship in - shipping poultry has become an expensive nightmare.

So- there it is. Bad news because of bad business practice and bad communication to people who were trying to create a community supported business. No more breeder days at the Mill and no local chicks sold there starting now.

But here’s the GOOD news:
now we will host our own events & with no middle man, yall are going to get wonderful chicks for great deals!! And no shipping!!!

Below are the breeders and what they have to offer.

My final note on this, is I truly hope the owners see this post. And the others, what the GM is doing is a slap in the face to what their dad believes in. Who is so passionate about people and community, I have met him, as some of you know I was a employee there and had the pleasure of speaking to him multiple times. I truly wonder if they know how he treats the mill and the employees there.

Everyone who has sold chicks at the mill has been a huge supporter telling folks about the amazing Feed (which is fantastic feed) and the fact that years back also supported local businesses (I guess not anymore) it's honestly just sad to see this is what has happened.

Send Jolene some support as this whole thing as been extremely depressing for her.

Thanks for your support!
