Okay, so you know Willie Nelson, right?

On the Road Again, braids, outlaw country vibes, literal American treasure.

Well… plot twist: before he was a legend, he was just “Wee Willie Nelson” spinning country records on a little Vancouver radio station in the ‘50s. Yep — Vancouver, WA, not Texas.

Back in 1956, Willie moved here to be near his mom in Portland, got a gig at KVAN, bought his first house, had his second kid, and — oh yeah — recorded his very first single right inside that studio. Pressed it himself. Sold it on his radio show. Total DIY icon energy before it was cool.

So next time someone says nothing exciting happens in Vancouver, just casually drop: “Oh, you mean the city where Willie Nelson’s career started?” 🎤💧
