We all have family and friends who aren't vegan. So it will be nice to be able to be able to eat together with loved ones at a fast food restaurant occasionally. Even if fast food isn't your thing, which for many of us vegans it's not, the value is in spending time together and sharing a meal out with people you love without turning it into an ordeal for them. Over the past couple of years, I've had Burger Kings Impossible whopper a hand full of times (remember though, "it takes 2 hands to handle the Whopper") and it tastes better than I remember original whoppers being. More importantly I can eat there with my son or when out shopping with my wife without any hassles. Also, I hear lots of meat eaters who are trying to cut back for health reasons will regularly opt for a plant based burger now. Whether it's healthier or not I'm not sure, but there has been a study showing that the highly processed pea protein still has the cholesterol lowering effect that whole beans and legumes have. Then there's the positive impact these alt-proteins have on animal "livestock". As the worlds non-vegans and vegans alike shift towards plant based proteins there is less demand for slaughtered meat, that is the goal right, to stop killing animals. Even though I don't eat a lot of this kind of food I still think it's a good thing in a broader sense of "the big picture". So whether you love it or hate it, in the words of The Beatles late John Lennon just "Give Peas a Chance". ☮
McDonald’s and Beyond Meat's McPlant could roll out nationwide by late spring of 2022, according to Wall Street analysts.
