Today was my turn at showing at the Darke County Fair!

I brought 4 Silkie Hens to the open class show today and walked away with some pretty awesome wins for a first timer 😍.

First showmanship complete. We really had little to no idea what showmanship entailed, but a last minute cram study session gained Addy a 5th place ribbon in Intermediate Showmanship with our oldest chicken, Willow. 🖤🤍🖤🤍

****Edited to add that I’m SO new to showing that I totally had Jo’s award listed wrong for her Silkie Hen. She got 2nd place overall in 6 heats of bantam hens but did not get Reserve Champion overall bantam. Random “wait a minute” moment followed by a google search laying in bed at 5 am. 🤣🤣 Oh well. Maybe I’m manifesting next year’s win.****

Finally decided it was time to start showing our birds and what better place to start than the Great Darke County Fair?! **Second Place** Bantam Hen win for miss Jolie! Addy didn’t place but learned so much from the judge. Needless to say we’re hooked and looking forward to the years and shows to come❤️
