One of the hardest parts of owning livestock is that there will inevitably be deadstock. One of my four breeding does evidently had a bit of an attitude at some point yesterday, as I came home to her having paralyzed one of her three-week-old kits. I immediately did a mercy culling and can only hope that it hadn't been long before I got back home. Kilo will be getting a month or two rest before we try to breed her again. Hopefully she is more successful with her second litter with us, as I maintain a strict 3 strike policy on all breeding stock. On a happier note, here's a picture I snagged last week of Ms Fancy and her litter sunbathing while their hutch was being cleaned.

The teenagers got moved to their last pen, Ms Wynonna and the 3 weekers got moved over to stage 2, and Reba slid over to the maternity pen. Rough due date for her is the 13th. We've got a new Flemmish Giant buck and two does, another Flemish and a REW New Zealand, with litters coming to the farm next week. It's going to be a busy summer here at R13! 😁

Miss Wynonna's two current litters - 2 weeks old with fat little milk bellies (so cute, right?) and 6 weeks old and testing every last nerve in my body (seriously, how hard is it not to use your FOOD PAN like a LITTER BOX?!??). Much like cattle, you may not understand how anyone could eat them in the beginning. I assure you, the more time you spend with them, it becomes /abundantly/ clear why we eat them. I think that's just the nature of all livestock, though.

Let me go ahead and introduce ourselves. Rockin' 13 Ranch is owned and operated by the same slightly crazy family behind Country Girl Enterprises LLC. We currently run a rabbitry, focused on producing large, fast growing meat rabbits. We will begin selling all natural, hormone & antibiotic free, ready-to-cook frozen rabbits this fall. We will also have dog treats - ears, feet, and belly flaps - and raw, frozen offal for raw pet diets available beginning in July.

We also currently raise Dominique chickens and Cayuga ducks. Available poultry products vary, please message us and we can confirm if we have what you're looking for. Next spring is the goal for kicking off our Boer meat goat program, with sheep and hogs to follow.

We are so excited to offer these products and bring y'all along with photos and videos when we can! Join our group to stay up to date with what's available in our "digital farmstand," and get the chance to vote on seasonal baked goods!
