It Started with a Fig Jam All about Jams! Made with LOTS of LOVE!! We are also part of VA Finest Products. How I started: I have FIG Tree right outside my home in VB.

Hello this is Lori Golding Zontini I have an all-Natural Jam company called "It Started with a Fig (Jams) here in Virginia Beach. My husband and I decided we should have a JAM OFF... So we did, needless to say we know who WON! I decided the Fig Jam was so good why not create more! Ones to top your meat with, your fish, chicken, and cheeses!! I pride myself in BOLD NATURAL flavor, so I do not use a

lot of sugar. WE are vegan and the only preservative is Citric Acid! The color and texture speaks for itself! I am happily involved in running some of the best farmers markets in Hampton Roads to include, Old Beach Farmers Market, Kings Grant Farmers Market and the newest venture Ghent Farmers Market! It Started with a Fig jams are represented at all three markets! Names of some of the flavors include, Blueberry Hill, Blushing Peach, Pineapple Express, Cranny Apple, Chia Chia Strawberry Razz, Mango Tango, I do have the BEST Apple Butter in Hampton Roads!!

The figs are ripe, the kettles have been busy, and the shelves are stocked... but only for a little while.

I'll have a limited supply of my fig jams this Saturday, including some larger 16 oz. jars! If you know you love them, don't wait until fall. Once these are gone, there won't be another jam-making sessionuntil November.

Come early, grab your favorites, and stock the pantry before they're gone!

Returning your jars gives them another life, helps reduce waste, and keeps a little extra glass out of the landfill. Plus, I always smile seeing how many of my jars have found a home in your kitchens over the years.

Fresh figs are back... and if you know, you know.

For a few short weeks each summer, one of Virginia's most anticipated fruits makes its appearance. Unlike the figs you'll find at the grocery store, locally grown figs are picked when they're perfectly ripe—soft, sweet, and packed with flavor. They're so delicate they don't travel well, which means this is one of those treats you can only truly enjoy by shopping local.

This Saturday at Old Beach Farmers Market, look for fresh figs, along with peaches, tomatoes, melons, local seafood, pasture-raised meats, artisan breads, mushrooms, honey, flowers, jams, coffee, and so much more from the incredible farmers and food producers who make our market special every week.

Come hungry, bring your market bags, and spend your Saturday morning supporting the people who grow, raise, bake, harvest, and create the very best of Coastal Virginia.

After almost 12 years at Old Beach Farmers Market this Saturday (4/18/26) will be my last market for a little while as I take a step back from It Started with a Fig. This decision hasn’t been easy—this little jam business has been such a big part of my life, and truly the reason I found my way to OBFM in the first place.

What started as a simple idea turned into something so much bigger, and that’s because of this community. Your support, your conversations, your traditions of coming back year after year—it has meant more to me than I could ever fully put into words.

This isn’t a goodbye. I’ll still be right here, doing what I love as your market manager, cheering on our vendors and watching this market continue to grow. And if you know me… fig season has a way of pulling me back in, so don’t be surprised if you see me again when the time is right.

For now, I’ll be at the market finishing out what I have left, and I’d love to see you, catch up, and say “see you soon.”

Thank you for being part of this journey with me—for supporting not just my business, but all of us who show up week after week.

SOUND UP 📢📢📢📢📢📢

Hey everyone! Lori here. I have some big news to share. After 12 incredible years of making jams, I’ve decided to take a hiatus to focus on what has always truly fueled my fire: helping people.

It has been such a privilege being a part of your homes and your family tables for over a decade. I am so deeply grateful for every jar you’ve bought and every conversation we’ve had over the market table. Looking back, I realize that the jam was just the beginning
—it was the bridge that connected me to all of you.

If you know me, you know I’m someone who wears a lot of hats and is always knee-deep in community work. That’s just who I am. Whether I’m running the markets or working on local projects, my heart is at its happiest when I’m helping someone else get their start or helping our community grow.

I’ve realized that I want to give more of myself to that mission. I want to be there for the new vendors finding their footing and the neighbors who make our city so special. To do that well, I’m shifting my energy away from production and toward being the best advocate and friend I can be for this community.

I’m not going anywhere! You’ll still see me every Saturday at Old Beach Farmers Market, Ghent Farmers Market & King's Grant Farmers' Market, doing what I love most—supporting the people who make Virginia Beach & beyond home.

My last day with It Started with a Fig Jam at the Old Beach Farmers Market will be Saturday, April 18th. I’ll still be making batches for my friends and family, but for now, I’m hitting “pause” on the public jars to focus on the people who make this journey so worth it.

Thank you for being part of my jam family. I’m so lucky to have you all in my corner.
