We have three steers still available this winter. If you have the freezer space, this is the most economical way to have beef available to you year round. Allow me to demonstrate 🙂
If you purchase a whole steer, and it's live weight is 1400 pounds, the hanging weight is usually around 60% of the live weight. So now your steer weighs 840 pounds. This is the amount that we and the processors we work with to bill. So if you figure our price ($3.50 per pound) and processing (conservatively $1.25 per pound), you are paying $3,990 for your steer. The package weight of a steer is usually 60-65% of the hanging weight, so you are taking home about 525 pounds of great tasting, hand raised LOCAL beef. This is $7.60 per pound of beef in your freezer ACROSS ALL CUTS!
What this means is a pound of ground beef is $7.60, which *is* slightly higher than store bought 93/7 beef. It also means a 2 pound T-bone is $15.20, which is around half price. In addition, with Dambacher Farms, you know our beef is local, and that your meat is from your cow. And it just tastes better!
And if you don't have the room or the money for a whole steer, you can team up with family and friends to divide into a half or quarter steer and share however you wish!
