Hard to beat...

07/21/2023
Hi RdP Family & Friends, I have been searching HIGH AND LOW for someone who will move a 10 x 12 Tuff Shed from RdP to our home on Guajome Lake Road. Tuff Shed themselves stopped this service during covid, and won't make recommendations. I've tried towing companies, tractor contacts, movers, dirt haulers, etc. Just need an independent business with a tilt load flat bed. Message or email me at [email protected]. THANKS!

Some additional protective measures you might want to consider
Researchers investigated how you can best protect your horses from contracting the vesicular stomatitis virus. Here’s what they found.
05/27/2023
Clarification: YES to fly traps, NO to in/next to your corral. We want to draw the flies AWAY from the horses, not to them. Duh.
05/27/2023
RdP Boarders: we are implementing initial biosecurity against VSV...and we need your help and participation!
1. Install a fly bait trap at/near your corral
2. If you like to do an extra mucking, do not leave it adjacent to your corral, or near the roll off. Take it to the composting bays next to the hay barn.
The goal is to keep manure as far away from the horses as possible.
We are considering moving the manure roll off to another location, but that may take a week.
Many thanks!
The RdP Team

Hi All, Infected flies have been detected in Bonsall--please see the notice below from Stenerson's as RdP is implementing the same safety precautions. I believe it's ok to continue to enjoy our Guajome trails, since RdP IS Guajome.
1. No outside or new horses will be allowed at RdP
2. All farriers must take standard biohazard precautions
3. No hauling out--if you haul out, you will not be allowed back to RdP until restrictions are lifted.
4. If you have horses at home, or at other facilities, do not share equipment, change clothes and sanitize.
5. Do not touch any horse but your own, do not share equipment, water buckets, etc.
6. When possible, tack up in your stall and avoid shared spaces.
Unlike previous equine infections, flies fly and that makes this harder, so please be mindful.

Hey all RdP Boarders! In case you haven't heard about this, there have been several cases of VSV--it starts from an insect vector, but is contagious horse to horse. They recommend upping your fly prevention sprays and ointments. While VSV itself isn't fatal, horses can die from associated issues: inability to eat or hydrate. Please avoid touching horses other than your own, sharing water buckets, allowing horses to touch noses, etc. All the usual precautions!

After nearly 17 yrs we have made the bittersweet decision to sell our beloved Rancho Dos Palmas. It is our sincerest hope that it will remain a horse ranch, so please forward the listing to your horse loving friends. Until that time, we're business as usual, enjoying the Guajome trails, views, and fantastic facilities. http://sdmls.paragonrels.com/publink/default.aspx?GUID=b1c766dd-f406-442f-a777-dcb3fac46cd5&Report=Yes

I’m sure you all know that we are expecting 2-3 inches of rain today through next Tuesday. Sigh.
The Ranch Hands will be grooming and CLOSING all arenas and round pens TODAY in advance of the rain. That means, it may not be raining but the pen(s) may be closed since we have to get it done in advance.
Please be understanding that we are doing are best to protect the pens with the goal of them being open again as soon as is possible.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
