Mugwort Infused Oil

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) has a long history of use in traditional herbalism. When the dried leaves are slowly infused into a carrier oil, the oil can be used as a base for topical products such as salves, balms, body oils, and massage blends. Herbalists often choose olive oil because it extracts well and has a long shelf life.

Traditionally, mugwort-infused oil has been used in external preparations intended to support circulation, ease muscular tension, and provide a warming, relaxing massage experience. In folk herbal traditions, mugwort has also been associated with supporting digestion (especially after heavy meals), easing occasional bloating, and supporting the menstrual cycle. It has long been used in ritual and folk practice for dreamwork and relaxation, often applied in massage oils or used for anointing before rest. It is commonly combined with beeswax to create salves or blended with other herbs depending on the intended purpose of the finished product.

Mugwort is for external use in these preparations. Because mugwort has a history of stimulating uterine activity, it is generally avoided during pregnancy. As with any botanical product, perform a patch test before widespread use.

These will be used both in oil form AND in salve formation. 🐸
