Tincture time!
Did you know....
Goldenrod, when used medicinally, is great for drying your runny nose, supporting your urinary tract health and when made into a salve can help heal minor skin wounds and irritations?

I think he missed his calling. I should have saddled him up and brought him to the jumping ring... 🤣

Halter training is not going so well, but at least he comes when I call 🤣

Say “yes” to the horse.

Seriously. Write the check.

Financially, it's a terrible investment. The lessons, the farrier bills, the travel expenses, the entry fees—the math will never make sense.

But you aren't investing in a market.

You're investing in her.

You're buying gas station stops for drinks and snacks. You're buying the smell of the barn, leather, and fresh arena dirt. You're buying early mornings, late nights, and the grit it takes to climb back on after a bad run.

Then one day, you'll stand at the gate and watch your little girl take a deep breath, settle into her saddle, and ride into the arena with a confidence you helped build—but can no longer give her.

That's when it hits you.

Our children were never truly ours to keep. God simply entrusts them to us for a little while, asking us to love them, teach them, and prepare them to ride into this world with courage and faith.

One of the hardest parts of being a mom is learning to let go.

It's standing at the mouth of the alleyway, watching your daughter disappear into the arena, trusting the foundation you've built, the horse beneath her, and the Lord above to guide her when she's moving faster than you ever could.

So if you're sitting on the fence wondering whether the empty wallet, the sleepless miles, and all the sacrifices are worth it...

Say “yes” to the horse.

Because one day, the trailer will stay parked. The arena lights will go dark. The saddle will hang a little longer between rides.

And you'd give every dollar you've ever earned just to walk beside her to the barn or arena one more time.

The days are long.

The years are lightning fast.

Enjoy every ride. 🤍🙏

*not mine. But 🥺😭*

Animal #2 raised and at the processor. Its a bittersweet day...
We love raising our own but the pasture always looks a little empty with one missing..

Crash. We picked up a terrified yearling in the middle of winter. Had a difficult time getting him loaded and when we got him home he proved our fence was not strong enough 🤣 he "crashed" through multiple fences and finally landed himself back in with our existing herd. 2 days later I had him calm enough that I could pet him. By that summer I could brush him and fly spray him with zero issues and no fear. He bred our heifer and gave us our sweet Mac. After he was in with the girls for awhile he came more unpredictable. Having no fear of humans he slowly got "dangerous" he wouldn't try to intentionally hurt us but he knew he was bigger and used that against us 😅
We are trying to breed quality Texas Longhorns and his confirmation and body/horn size wasn't ideal for what we would like.
Although our hearts are a bit heavy today to we so thankful for him, all he taught us, and all the meals we will get from him. ❤️

One Bad Day

Soon this guy will be headed to the processor. Its the kind of day that makes us stop and reflect on what we do here.

There’s a saying in farming that our animals only ever have “one bad day”. From the moment they arrive, we do everything in our power to make sure their lives are filled with love, good care, good food, fresh air, and space to live as animals should.

We pour our time, love, and work into raising them well — not only for their own health and well-being, but also for ours.

It’s never easy, but it’s part of the responsibility we carry with deep respect. And we’re grateful every day to be able to raise food this way — with honesty, intention, and care.

Preparing for that day is never easy but we like to make sure it's as stress free as we can. Even if that means daily scratches and meals in the trailer so there's minimal fear and panic when the time comes.

Thankful for this life and the ability to grow our own food. ❤️
