🐾🤼♂️ Meet Our Head Coach: Dylan Garcia 🤼♂️🐾
We’re proud to introduce Coach Dylan Garcia as the head coach of the Wagoner Takedown Club. His roots in Wagoner wrestling run deep, and he’s ready to help the next generation grow on and off the mat.
Coach Dylan Garcia is a family man first. Everything he does, on and off the mat, is driven by his love for his family and his commitment to setting an example they can be proud of. He comes from a long line of wrestlers here in the Wagoner community, including his father, Ivan Garcia, a Wagoner wrestling alumnus. Working alongside his father as a child helped shape Dylan’s values, integrity, and character, and gave him a love for the sport that has lasted a lifetime.
That same drive defined his wrestling career. Through high school and college, Dylan battled at multiple weights and refused to limit himself to one style, competing in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman. His hard work earned him two regional championships, a state placing, and a spot at the national tournament in Fargo. He learned what it takes to win under respected coaches Micco Charbeneu, Josh Hughes, and Chris Barbie, who taught him that toughness is built one practice at a time.
The Wagoner Takedown Club holds a special place in Dylan’s heart. He has spent years giving back to it, helping his brothers, his own children, and countless nieces and nephews who have grown up in the club community. This past season, he also helped spearhead the startup of the Greco-Roman and freestyle team at the high school, giving Wagoner wrestlers new opportunities to grow and compete.
Now, as head coach, he is determined to pass those lessons on to every wrestler in the room. He believes a wrestling team is a family, and he treats every young athlete like one of his own. His goal is to help kids learn the fundamentals, build confidence, and discover that hard work pays off, all while having fun and learning to respect their teammates, their opponents, and themselves.
Dylan is excited to step into the role of head coach and looks forward to the future, working hand in hand with the Wagoner school system to prepare the next generation of wrestlers and alongside the families of Wagoner to make the Takedown Club the best it can be.
