The first gallivant! They love having more room and all-day access to grass, bugs, and anything else they can dig up in the dirt.

One of the first things that crossed my mind when we brought these guys home was 'they're soo fluffy!" The chicks are quickly changing with new little wing and tail feathers growing by the hour.

🐥 All chicks are started on an organic, Non-GMO chick grower and will be transferred out to pasture as soon as their feathers are developed. They've already been enjoying short windows of outdoor time as the weather permits. It's our goal to raise these birds in a low-stress, high-compassion manner. At finish, the birds will have been raised following Non-GMO pasture-raised methods.

Why did we choose a meat breed known to forage? In short, to kill two birds with one stone. Okay, maybe a little too soon for that analogy, but stick with me.

In short, because chickens are powerful partners in regenerative farming. As they forage, they scratch the soil, spread nutrients, eat pests, and naturally fertilize pastures. They are just one component of a resilient farm ecosystem. Along with this benefit, we'll also get a tasty product for the dinner table.

Blueberries are one of my favorite signs of summer and this heat is sure making them pop! 🫐 We put in several bushes this year, and I just love having more color around this place.

If you were around here last year, you know that we had the opportunity to share some incredibly delicious freshly picked blueberries from another local grower. I was hoping to be able to provide them for sale again this year, but the crop is being heavily attacked by the birds due to their other food sources taking a hit this spring. There are still a couple of weeks left in the season, so I'll continue to keep you all updated if there is a chance of having any additional for sale this year!

Hi Friends! It's been a little while since I've been on here, and I want to share an update!

Grow. Learn. Preserve.

Many thanks to my mother-in-law that is willing to take time out of her day to not only help me learn how to preserve a harvest, but to preserve the technique and tradition of canning.

Pro tip: If summers are packed full for you and your family, tossing veggies that are at peak ripeness into the freezer can hold them until you’re ready to make things like soups and salsas.

For this fiscal year, which ends September 30, only 1.9 million acres are available for all CRP enrollments, so it’s likely to be a competitive year.

Continuous CRP participants voluntarily offer environmentally sensitive lands, typically smaller parcels than offered through General CRP, including wetlands, riparian buffers, and varying wildlife habitats. In return, they receive annual rental payments and cost-share assistance to establish long-term, resource-conserving vegetative cover.
