The Kozy Goat A Lifestyle page that embodies coziness, comfort, and contentment. With a bit of humor. (At times.) Bring in the love for candles and lanterns.

I want to share the cool, the weird, the heartfelt, and the interesting. Hygge is my passion, because it is everywhere, and it's my goal to share it. Hello there, I'm Kendra, and I'd love to share a bit about my journey with you. I grew up in the fresh green, (and often rainy) Puget Sound area, (Washington State), where our homestead was nestled on a mountainside. It was a place where running wate

r and electricity were rare commodities, and power outages were a regular part of life. As a child, I had the unique experience of raising and milking goats, riding ponies to explore our (what seemed) expansive 5-acre homestead, and learning the true meaning of self-sufficiency. We didn't have much, but we embraced a hygge lifestyle, creating warmth and coziness from scratch. It was through those challenging times that I developed a deep appreciation for simplicity, the beauty of nature, and the power of creativity. Now, as a full-time mom with kids in middle school and college, I draw upon those formative years to inspire my family and others through my blog, sharing tales of farm life, DIY tips, and the magic of crafting a hygge lifestyle from the heart. As I share my journey and experiences, my goal is to not only inspire but also provide practical guidance. Each week, I'll be offering suggestions and links to products that can help you tap into your own heart and find what stirs comfort and coziness in your life. Whether it's in the kitchen, where we'll explore culinary quests and delightful recipes, the dining room, where we'll discuss decor and creating inviting spaces, the bedroom, where we'll delve into relaxation and restful retreats, or the family room, where we'll celebrate togetherness and bonding, I'm here to be your guide. Together, we'll uncover the little treasures that bring warmth and joy to your everyday life.

I’ve thought about this a lot lately.

What does cozy actually mean?

Perhaps it’s easy to think of blankets, candles, good food and a comfortable home. And I love all of those things. I love it every time I feet softness on my skin, or a cool breeze just when I need it the most.

But I think it goes deeper.

Here’s what I mean:

What about knowing where our food comes from? Asking questions when something doesn’t quite make sense. Making things with our hands. Getting outside. Staying curious. Protecting what matters while remembering we can’t control everything.

Being willing to change our minds when we learn something new.

Choosing connection over comparison.
Meaning over noise.
And paying attention instead of simply going along.

Perhaps cozy isn’t about making life softer.

I think it’s about becoming more intentional about what we allow into it — and more grateful for what’s already here. 🤍

I love sharing a good local find.

My son and I have a standing mama-and-son dinner date each week while my husband and daughter have one of their own. This week, my son picked Tatsu Sushi in Walnut Creek, and I’m so glad he did.

The presentations are little works of art, the portions are generous, and from what we were told, it’s family-owned. The atmosphere makes you want to slow down and enjoy the conversation.

I ordered the Mango Crusted Lobster Roll, and it took me on a flavor ride—buttery, sweet, salty, with fresh cilantro tying it all together.

If you’re looking for a place that’s as memorable as the company you bring with you, this one’s worth a visit. 🍣❤️

Kozy Goat Local Find 🐐

Every now and then you stumble across a place that quietly exceeds expectations.

Tatsu Sushi in Walnut Creek was one of those for me.

Thoughtfully prepared food, a beautiful space, generous portions, and genuinely warm hospitality. It’s the kind of family-owned restaurant that reminds you why supporting local matters.

Highly recommend. ❤️

Somewhere along the way, life got complicated.

We’re told we need more. More stuff. More hustle. More noise. More reasons to believe happiness is always one purchase, promotion, or vacation away.

But I don’t think that’s true.

I think life is pretty simple.

A table that gets used.
A meal made with care.
People who make you laugh until your face hurts.
A friend who shows up.
A dog at your feet.
Fresh bread cooling on the counter.
Chickens scratching in the yard.
A quiet morning with a cup of coffee.

Good hearts.
Good food.
Good company.

That’s the kind of wealth that never goes out of style.

That’s what Kozy has always meant to me—not a decorating trend, but a way of living. Creating spaces where people feel welcome, slowing down long enough to notice the little things, and remembering that the best moments in life are rarely the expensive ones.

Life is pretty simple. Good hearts, good food, and good company make life Kozy.
