The Piebald sheep industry lost a legend today with the passing of “Grease Monkey”.

Few rams can truly be credited with forging a path and changing the direction of a “breed” or type, but “Grease Monkey” left a mark that will be seen for generations. His influence through his sons, daughters, and countless descendants helped shape the quality, look, and future of Piebald sheep across the country.

Great ones come and go, but the truly legendary ones leave a legacy long after they’re gone.

ATTENTION!!! Recently semen was donated by another party to the RSG Foundation semen bank as “Grease Monkey”. That semen was listed as our piebald “Grease Monkey” ram and his picture, with his pedigree at $35/unit, however it was not him. If you purchased this semen through their website thinking it was our piebald “Grease Monkey” ram, you have crossbred semen, it was not him it was actually another crossbred ram. We discovered the issue yesterday when a customer presented “Grease Monkey” semen with a cane code that did not match. We contacted RSG today to determine what was what. There was an error in their listing which has since been removed and they will be notifying all individuals who purchased that semen. This post is not a bash post and is not intended to be, we wanted anyone who bought that semen believing they were breeding to our piebald ram, that they were not, and when you got lambs that did not match the genetics this was the reason not the rams fault. This was not our ram or semen sold. If you are in question check you codes, the incorrect semen cane code is RSGXX1179, attached is an empty straw for reference. Please reach out to us if you received the wrong semen and still wish to breed with “The Real Grease Monkey”

Just because the RSG site or catalog does not list our rams or says “Out of Stock” does not mean that we do not have semen available. We have semen in Stock on all the rams “Bear Claw”, First Class”, “Beetlejuice”, and “Grease Monkey” as well as all of our Dorset rams Wilfong Dorsets “Home Stretch”, “Soul Sniper”, and “Eclipse” The misconception that just because it isn’t in the catalog or on their website DOES NOT mean we do not have frozen semen available at RSG.
