The Widowhood Luncheon is us putting forth an effort to meet that need.
2. J's Smokin' BBQ provides the food, and it is always delicious! (Give them a follow on Facebook!)
3. We bring in professionals from various backgrounds to bring lessons topics that we think are not only relevant to most widows, but most people in general. For example, we've had a nurse talking about hypertension management
, a couple of folks from the Cooper Law Firm sharing lots of helpful legal information (like living wills and trusts), and an I.T. manager talking about online scams and phishing (where people try to get you to click on links to steal your information).
4. The Widowhood Luncheon is not a dating service for widows. We understand that some widows or widowers might be leery of events like these, because they are still grieving the loss of their loved one. This is not the purpose of our Widowhood Luncheons. To be clear, we aren't discouraging it, either. We just want to be clear that our purpose is to provide a community of support where those in widowhood can enjoy the company of others who have that in common. (And to share some of the love of Jesus with them as well!)
5. We operate on a last-monday-of-the-month basis. Typically, the only time we deviate from this is when a holiday takes precedence (in which case we might move it to the Monday prior).
