14 hour round trip yesterday to pick up my new doe kid... Then goat math happened. 🤣

Welcome these beautiful littermate sisters, RZ Acres C'est La Vie and RZ Acres Coup de Coeur!

Vie was the plan, and Coco was the unexpected one who stole my heart in the moment!

Many many thanks to Amber from RZ ACRES Nigerian Dwarf & Guernsey Goats for the fantastic opportunity to bring these girls home!

Can't wait to take some better pictures!

And we close out this kidding season with a very special pairing, Haymaker Farm Rebel Hart and Gypsy Moon CAS My Thai! I really needed some does from this duo so of course I got two (albeit gorgeous) bucklings!!!

One may be retained but I need to see them unfold for a bit before making that decision.

However the other one is currently unspoken for! Who would be interested in a buckling raffle? Unless someone wants to lock one of these boys in for themselves!

Conformation is the prime consideration in a breeding buck, but temperament is also very important! I think Mugsy here is going to be a wonderful herdsire!

This is what happiness is for me. Sitting on the porch with my dogs on a warm evening, watching my goat herd munching away. 🥰

P***y Power! 😍 I'm so glad I gave this girl a strong name. She has fully overcome whatever was causing her early issues with her breathing/heart rate and failure to thrive.

She is still on the small side but she's catching up well and is a happy healthy girl these days! I need to get a nice picture after she is shaved down but she's really looking nice!

And this is why I typically require deposits. Because every time I let them slide, this is what happens. I hold goats for a week and then get ghosted on pick up. Smh.

Anyway, Veda and Maui are still available. 🤣

Why do I try to avoid late May/June kiddings? Heat.

Poor My Thai, we've gone from days in the 50's to 80! I'm not complaining cuz I think it's beautiful out! But anyone who has been heavily pregnant in the summer knows it can be miserable!

She does love the addition of the old truck cap to the pen though. Nice shade and cool soil underneath, close to the water. 🥹

I posted this on my main social, Wicked Awesome Gardening, but I figured it would get a lot more appreciation here with all the ADGA herds I've connected with here! 🤣

This doe's littermate sister's udder was... "yikes" is the only way I could describe it. I cried a little, convinced this girl due a whole month later was going to be just the same. I made plans to sell them together to a new home. But then her pre-fresh udder came in and looked promising! I decided to still sell her as long as she gave me a doeling to retain.

Then she gave me boys. But her udder was so surprisingly nice that I canceled her sale and decided to retain her for another year until I could get that doeling. I left her boys on her 24/7 for 8 weeks. Only milked her once or twice at the beginning because the boys were favoring one side. Once that was corrected I let her be.

This picture is her first fill, about 14 hours. I'm in love. 🤣

I can't believe I was ever going to sell her. The first goat born on my farm, the first to carry my herd name. This is everything I could have hoped to see for a doe out of her dam, Stella. 😍 A few weeks of fills and stretching and she'll be even better. Is this a perfect udder? No. But it's an udder I'm really happy with! She's not going anywhere for quite a while.

Her boys with Rebel this year looked really really nice so a repeat breeding is in the cards for her this fall!

I hope you enjoyed that drink Mr Maui! You are almost as big as your mama and she is OVER IT! 🤣 Not only is Holly ready to stop nursing her giant child, but every doe in the pen is ready to not having him all up in their business like he's a full grown man! 🤣

Tonight is your last night in with the does and tomorrow you spend more than just the daytime with the bucks, you are in there to stay until your new mama picks you up!
