Avian Influenza kills most of Allen County backyard flock as virus spreads rapidly

Question is was this flock fed store bought chicken feed daily only and/or locked up in a small pin with only a few feet of outside walk area OR was these birds able free range over a larger area to eat grass, weeds, bugs, and anything else that don’t eat them first and fed a fresh ground variety of grains/seeds and fresh water ? Nutrition plays a huge roll in the sickness of flocks. Better the nutrition the less sickness and disease.

Avian influenza cases are rising nationwide and here in Indiana and we’re learning nearly an entire flock of poultry in Allen County has died after testing positive for the virus.

The 1776 Report

In the course of human events there have always been those who deny or reject human freedom, but Americans will never falter in defending the fundamental truths of human liberty proclaimed on July 4, 1776. We will—we must—always hold these truths.

Ariel a first time momma is doing great. She instantly developed mastitis in her back right quarter but after a week of shots and multiple milking a day from us and baby trots drinking its mostly better. Hopefully after another week of regular milking it will be cleared up for her. And no this milk is not drinkable for humans right now, not till it’s all cleared up.

Josh didn’t have a place to run before he was turned over to us. This is the first time I let him in the larger area. We was heading up the hill to spread new forage seeds while he ran and played.
