When we first got into raising cattle, showing was not part of the plan. Honestly, we knew nothing about any of it. We just wanted to raise cattle and then started meeting more cattle people who led us here…

There were some seriously beautiful cattle there this weekend that we probably had no business competing against 🤣 but every time we go, we learn a little more about what we like and what we want to do differently with our own herd. Now we just need to start adding some of those things into our breeding program and hopefully produce some more show-type cattle of our own!

We still have a lot to learn, but it’s been fun figuring it out as we go and watching the boys learn right along with us. Never thought this is where raising cattle would take us, but here we are! 🐂♥️

When your husband never tells you no… 🤣 🫏

And just like that, Henry has a new best friend!

He is super sweet and is starting to warm up to us after a few days but still has some work before we can saddle him up!

We still haven’t decided on a name. We’re thinking maybe Smokey, but I want something that flows with Henry. Give me your best ideas! 🤎

For those of you that remember back in May, I wrapped up a handful of peonies as an experiment to see if I could save them for an event at the end of July.

Well… here’s the reveal. 😅 They didn’t make it.

Not every experiment is a success, but I still wanted to share the results. That’s part of learning, and now we know they won’t last 2.5 months in the fridge! 🌺

These two blooms are on the same exact stem but look completely different because they are in different stages of blooming. This is just one of the things I love about walking through the flower garden. Just seeing the day to day changes and learning different things about different varieties just by growing them and figuring it out.

A little over a week ago, Justin and I were counting the herd when we realized one of our calves was missing. After searching, we found her badly injured, likely after getting caught in barbed wire.

We did everything we could to help her, but she just couldn’t recover. She got to the point where she couldn’t stand for very long, and we had to make the difficult decision to let her go. 😔

The hardest part now is listening to her mama call for her. It’s a reminder that these animals love deeply, and they grieve their losses too. I just want to hug her.

Some days on the farm are full of joy. Others leave a little sadness in your heart. 🤍

Fauquier Fair week of 2026 is officially in the books!

Between showing cattle, eating way too much fair food, making memories with old friends and new ones, and coming home with many ribbons and even a banner, I’d say it was four days well spent. 🏆🎉

The awards are exciting, but what means the most are the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the work ethic these boys continue to build. We couldn’t be prouder of them and all the dedication they put into their animals. Now onto the next fair! 😊

A little bit of farm life lately: just taking in the beautiful views this place never fails to give us, halter breaking some of this years calves, bush hogging, cleaning up all the fields fence lines for new fencing, building tree forts, growing more flowers and just hanging with the animals ❤️ There is literally always work to be done around here and we are so thankful to be raising 3 boys who help with it all!!
