Turning cedar invasion into something useful 🌲➡️🐄

Our farm had a heavy cedar problem, so we’re doing our part to reclaim pasture the right way — burning the small cedars and working with a local mill to turn the larger trees into porch beams, future chicken coops, swallow houses, and more. Every tree removed helps open the ground back up for grass, wildlife, and better silvopasture for our cattle. It’s all part of being better stewards of the land by giving native plants, pollinators, and wildlife a chance to thrive again.

Three years ago this was just a vision.
Now it’s daily herd checks, healthier cattle, and lessons learned every season. Grateful for the growth. 🌱🐄

There’s a growing disconnect between people and where their food comes from.

We’re trying to do our small part to change that.

Our cattle spend their lives on pasture with fresh grass, clean water, and low-stress handling. We care about raising healthy animals the right way, not just producing beef.

We believe transparency matters so if you have questions about our practices or want to visit the farm and see things firsthand, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Join our email list to get updates on upcoming bulk beef availability and be the first to access limited beef shares before they’re offered publicly.

Even if you’re not interested in purchasing beef yourself, you can still support us by sharing this link with friends or family who might be interested.

We’re adding electric fence so the cattle can graze smaller sections at a time, give pasture longer recovery, and make better use of the grass we already have. Healthier forage, cleaner ground, and cattle that stay performing on grass.

Nothing fancy, just trying to improve the farm one step at a time at Lazy H Farms. 🌱🐄

One thing we’re thankful for on this farm is the amount of natural springs and spring-fed ponds we have access to. Healthy forage is important, but clean water is just as critical for healthy cattle.

You can even spot the watercress growing around this spring — usually a good sign of fresh, clean water moving through the system.

Still plenty to improve long term. One of our goals is getting better water access to the back side of the farm so every pasture has the same quality setup. Always trying to leave the land and herd better than we found it.

Part two weaning and finishing steers - feed and feed storage. Planning to finish these steers out over the next 5-6 months before they are ready for butcher.

Putting in fiberglass corner posts today! Getting high tinsel electric installed is going to help us better control where, when, and how long our cattle graze specific pastures. The control will allow us to increase rest time and improve the pasture!
