Back in action 📸✊

Squash are back in stock. These will only continue to get bolder and better as the curing process happens. Enjoy them for many weeks to come as we move into the changing of the seasons.

It’s a really great time of year for the boxes as we get this wonderful cross over of the summer and autumnal produce. The only time you can get cucumbers and basil alongside squash and kales. An abundant time of year for the online shopping list!

Orders open for next week, head to the website to get yours! 🥒🥕🥔

- THE POTATO LIFTER 🥔🏋️‍♀️

Big sighs of relief all round as we had some success with using our very new very old potato lifter! The ground was quite hard and would’ve been difficult to dig all these beauties out using a fork.
Despite the drought these potatoes have done well and we’ve harvested some good size spuds.

Pembrokeshire potatoes, can’t beat um!
In all boxes this week alongside a bonus large portion of our tomatoes! 🍅🥔

It’s that time again - Order online to get your produce this Friday! 🥒🍅

We’ve updated the website with some exciting new additions this week including Pembrokeshire aubergines, British plums and our white and hispi cabbages! 🍆🥬

We can’t believe it’s almost the end of August 😲. There’s a slight shift in weather pressure and we are seeing the produce start to shift slightly. Autumn squash ripened quickly with all the sun and will be hitting the shelves soon. We still have an abundance of tomatoes and cucumbers for the next month or more!

Head to the website to find our more about this weeks boxes and what we have on offer! We get more paused orders during the holidays so every purchase really counts and is a welcome sight for all our hard work!

Let’s talk tomato 🍅🥰

We went to tomato town on the tomatoes this year.

We split our movable caterpillar tunnels into two tomato teams. One tunnel with our F1 varieties of productive, high yielding plants and uniform fruits for Welsh primary schools and another tunnel brimming with heirloom varieties with their eccentric and eclectic mix of rainbow fruits.
These tunnels are moved onto new ground each year as part of a 3 year bed rotation system. One year of fertility build, one year of lettuce heads and a year of tomatoes. The pathways are covered with woodchip on a tomato year. Here’s hoping this helps give them a welcome fertility boost through the season, better moisture retention and reduced disease Get these in veg boxes for the next few weeks. It’s a short but glorious season for delicious welsh tomatoes!

Get these in veg boxes until the end of Welsh tomato season or find them in some of our local restaurants and shops! thelittlepantrytenby Block & Larder | Tenby The Old Point House TOP JOE’S PIZZA Tân A Môr @ Dale Yacht Club

Thanks to all who stopped off at our stall at the Pembroke show today, just a half a mile away from the farm. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it’s a chance to commemorate my grandparents contributions to the local farming community. This year I got to spend it with my niece and nephew, swipe to see their efforts of loading courgettes in the van at the end of the day. I also got a new nephew born at the start of the week, big shouts!!

All walks of Pembroke life come through the gates and there is a clear sense of unwavering support from all attendees for British agriculture and farming!

Year on year we bring a consistent and higher quality array of produce to the show and we feel really proud to be nestled in and a part of the patchwork of local farmers. It’s been a challenging few weeks with the dry and hot weather. Thanks for all the encouraging words and support from everyone who came to chat to us today, it really does keep us going!

Swipe to the end to see a good use for overgrown courgettes or marrows!

Well it’s not coming home and it’s not raining either.

We are finding something to celebrate though as we drag around some rusty bits of metal.

We adjusted a weeding implement last week which worked really nicely on our winter brassica crop.
We made it nice and wide between the feet and discs to give us ample room for the plants. Calum did manage to drive in remarkably straight lines given the difficulty of our tractor steerage! We threw over a decent amount of soil in between the plants in the row which will help bury the weeds.

The dry weather has been difficult to manage but has allowed us to get on top of what we thought was going to be a bad couch grass problem on this patch. We’ve been using our new trickle pipes to water the plants without encouraging the weeds to grow back and when using the weeder we noticed good moisture in the ground lower down. 💦🌱

Is it coming home? 🏆
Will it rain? 🌧️
Who knows.
Trying out the new tractor mounted planter. Worked a treat! We got all our winter brassicas in the ground in no time. Thanks to our helpers Marie, Wils and Jess for giving it a whirl on their visits.
Now they just need some water 💦. We’re putting in some trickle lines to make sure they get watered as the dry weather looks set to continue.

Meanwhile the tunnel crops are booming as we try to keep up with cucumber harvesting.
Plenty of summer delights in this weeks boxes.
Courgettes, tomatoes (we hope!) cucumbers x2! Fennel, new potatoes, French beans, chard, basil and more!
Plus our sweet peas and sunflower bunches can be added to any order!

It’s been a busy week with most of our crew playing and dancing at westival all weekend then getting back to the grind!

Have a great week! 💐💕
