Craft Beverage Association

Craft Beverage Association Working to define CRAFT in a way that's flexible, fair, and true to the concept.

The purpose is to set standards for the term "craft" so it has meaning and can be saved from abuse. We plan to do this in a fair, enforceable and flexible way. If you know and care a lot about craft beverages, please let us know how you can help.

Mission: The goals of the Association are: to develop fair and enforceable standards for craft beverages, so the term is much more than a marketing buzzword, and so the term will identify and highlight and support craft beer, wine and spirits -- regardless of country of origin, or size of company, or type. - Fair - Flexible - Enforceable - Modern

United Summer of Budweiser

The anti-craft has arisen. I keep hearing about a Bud label that is so overflowing with patriotic hues and cries, that there is no room for the term Budweiser. For example, this Chicago Tribune article, from just a few hours ago, suggests that the label is under scrutiny somewhere deep within the belly of the bureaucracy.

Lo and behold, however, the label at issue got approved way back here, on March 1, 2016.

I am trying to do what I can to preserve this ad before it disappears from the internet. I actually think it's funny and well made. My first exposure was um er the Eater article that said it's puerile (is that the word?) and like a lame bro joke. No. I think it's witty and effective and she nails it. Somebody please save this for posterity.

Please hit me up with massive feedback on this draft logo. Who likes it, who hates it, why? This is a long time in the gestation and comes from one of the most accomplished designers in the world (Nike, Bicycle Playing Cards, Michael Jordan, etc.). I am not saying that makes it good per se. For qualified alcohol beverage products, this would go on bottles, to help people sort through what is and is not "craft." Would you put it on your bottle? Would you be more likely to buy something so designated?

Hey all. About a month ago I put up a contest here, with the prize being a bottle of Leopold Whiskey. Does anyone remember or have a copy? I can't find it now in my Facebook account. Does Facebook have any good searching? Anyway, I recall enough to do it from memory but would rather have all the info. Please speak up within 12 hours or we will go with the even-more-random-than-expected winner before Monday.

Wow the MSM is fast on this story. Then again, it's pretty huge. Miller seems like a wounded animal, with lots of awful news recently. In the past 24 hours I think I read they are closing a plant, got a huge TTB fine, and their volume is huge in China but without profit. It definitely has the feel about getting all the bad news out of the way for some kind of big changes.
