FARMERS MARKETS CFW operates vibrant farmers markets across Washington, DC and Northern Virginia, increasing access to affordable, local, nutritious food while creating economic opportunities for mid-Atlantic farmers and food producers. CFW's markets, food access programs, and community partnerships help create safe, welcoming public spaces for all to enjoy local food and build trust within their communities no matter age, background, or income. MARKET SHARE CFW offers a Market Share / CSA program for customers who want a regular weekly supply of the freshest local produce and other foods from our vendors. Social Impact shares are available! FOOD ACCESS We manage a variety of incentive and educational programs to ensure that all community members can access more healthy food. All donations to our Bonus Bucks program, which matches Federal benefits spent on fruits & vegetables at the market, are tax deductible.

We have exciting news! At our core, Community Foodworks is motivated by our mission to build an equitable and resilient food system, where all residents and families can access and afford fresh produce, and local farmers can support their livelihoods and sustainable farming and labor practices with a stable source of income. Today, we are taking an exciting step to deepen that mission and bring it to a wider audience:

We are proud to announce Community Foodworks plans to merge with FRESHFARM Markets that our Executive Director, Hugo Mogollon, will lead the new, consolidated organization under the FRESHFARM name.

Given the close alignment in mission, this merger is a natural, strategic step. We are both excited and convinced that this will allow us to bring fresh produce to more people in the region and continue to provide farmers the support they require to ensure sustainability. Join us in giving a huge congratulations to Hugo as he leads this next chapter for us!

Looking for a market this weekend? Shop our Sunday markets Gainesville Farmers Market by Community Foodworks and Tysons Farmers Market by Community Foodworks from 10-2pm!

Need help getting to the market? Here are several ways you can get to the Tysons Farmers Market easily and fuss free!

Parking:
The two closest parking garages to the market are Garage D and Garage E. Both are located along Tysons One Pl. We recommend parking in Garage E as it is directly connected to the Plaza.

Getting to the Market from Garage E:
If you have parked in Garage E, getting to the Market should be a breeze. Take the stairs or elevator to the 4th level. Walk west toward Barrel & Bushel. There is a bridge that connects the garage to Barrel & Bushel. If you follow the path around the restaurant, it will lead you out directly on the Plaza where the Market is located.

Getting to the Market from Garage D:
Once you have parked, exit the garage toward Lord & Taylor on Tysons One Pl. The VITA building should be across the street. Carefully cross the street to the VITA building. Enter the building to take the elevator up to the Pavilion. Once you exit the VITA building on the Pavilion level, the market should be on your left.

Getting to the Market from inside the Mall:
If you are coming to the Market from inside the mall, go to the 2nd level. The exit onto the Plaza is between Victoria's Secret and Zara.

Thank you for your patience as we get adjusted to the new market location. We hope these directions will help you find your way to the market and we're excited to see you there!

Thank you for having us Slow Food DC Patagonia. We were thrilled to be part of the panel and learned so much about the Farm Bill from the experts at National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, National Farmers Union, The Young Farmers Coalition, and our local partner DC Greens.

Many of us realize that policymaking is an important part of a good, clean, and fair food and farm system, but it's not always easy to understand how we as individuals can get involved. On April 3, Slow Food DC co-hosted a policy panel event with Patagonia's M Street store with the goal of transforming eaters into "ag-vocates."

The panel event, "From 'Farm Bill or Bust' to 'Farm Bill, Now What?'", walked attendees through the next steps in sustainable ag advocacy now that the 2018 Farm Bill has been signed into law. We were thrilled to have an engaged audience that were excited to learn about policy from our featured speakers: the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, Community Foodworks, National Young Farmers Coalition, DC Greens, and National Farmers Union. Sustainable snacks and beverages were provided by Patagonia Provisions and HoneyFlower Foods.

Call to Action: Tell Congress to Support WIC FMNP

Last week, the President’s FY 2020 budget was released, proposing significant cuts to USDA programs, including eliminating funding for the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (WIC FMNP).

Given the vital importance of this program for millions of Americans, we strongly encourage you to contact your House Representative and ask them to sign on today.

Earlier this week, the President’s FY 2020 budget was released, proposing significant cuts to USDA programs, including eliminating funding for the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Eliminating WIC FMNP would undermine years of work to ensure that low income families, particularly women and children, have access to healthy produce from America’s family-owned farms.

It's #GivingTuesday! Today our goal is to raise $2,000 to support our Market Share for Early Learners. Community Foodworks is the only organization in the city that offers fresh local produce from the Farmers Market delivered to child care centers.

This year, we delivered over 21,000 pounds of fresh, seasonal produce to feed 1,250 toddlers in high-need communities. For some of these toddlers, the meals they eat at day-care are their first and last of the day.

There’s no time like the present to make a gift, help others, and be part of a global movement. Will you make your #GivingTuesday contribution now?

Community Foodworks' farmers markets in DC and Northern Virginia have earned more than $3.3 million in sales for 162 local farmers and food producers! This is even more significant when you know that at the grocery store, farmers only take home 21 cents on the dollar, compared to the whole dollar when you shop at the farmers market. www.cfwdc.org
