Summer is a busy time, and I haven't had a chance to do regular posts here. But I wanted to just pop on and say that I'm still around, and still baking sourdough every week! The best way to order is to send me a message through this page. Bread is baked fresh every Wednesday morning, with Washington pick up on Wednesday afternoon/evening.

Summer is in full swing, and I've been neglecting this page a bit. But I wanted to share an exciting update with you all!
I have now switched to baking all of my bread with flour from Janie's Mill.
Janie's Mill offers organic, top quality flour, that's stone milled to preserve the nutrient rich wheat bran and germ. The wheat is sustainably grown and harvested in Illinois, without the use of any chemical fertilizers. I emailed the company to ask further questions about their growing practices, and was very happy to hear about the care they take to create an excellent flour.

I've created my own custom blend of Janie's Mill flours that gives my bread the same mild taste and light texture, but with all of the added health benefits of higher quality ingredients.

I am still baking weekly, so let me know if you'd like to be added to my schedule.

A fun springerle cookie workshop at Neighborhood Reads!

We covered the whole process of mixing up dough and rolling out cookies. All of the participants got to experiment with different cookie molds and went home with several flavors of springerle to bake.

Thanks to Amy Luby and Matthew Holz for taking photos while I was busy and to Neighborhood Reads for letting me use their space. Letha Misener generously helped me prep for this class, and all of the springerle molds that we used were from her company House on the Hill Cookie Molds

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and this workshop would be a lovely activity to do with Mom.
I will have cookie molds available for sale after the class, as well.

Local friends!
My happy little garden is putting out an abundance of early season produce, and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in sharing the bounty.
I currently have
Mixed lettuce
Spinach
Salad mix (lettuce, spinach, other seasonal greens)
Baby red mustard
Cilantro
Everything is grown in my backyard, and much of it from seed I've saved myself, so it doesn't get much more fresh and local than that! I never apply synthetic fertilizers or chemical sprays of any kind.
If you are interested, drop a comment and I'll work up some prices.
