A little while back I was able to pick up a few mares from a herd dispersal. One of the mares came with a foal at side (future post). I bought them on a whim, sight unseen and didn’t pick them up till they came off range a few months later. I was going a little bonkers at the end thinking I may have gotten myself into a bad deal, but from asking around the owner was known to be an honest person. I was tickled to find that they were in amazing shape, despite their age and for being range mares, pretty decent to handle! They came with the names Tookie and Honey. They are bred back to AQHA stallion, Poppin Te, for 2027 foals.

It’s pretty dang cool to own a mare (Tookie) bred by Bub Nunn! Honey came from Gene and Jan Hetletved’s program in North Dakota. I’ve bought a few horses out of their program that I’m pretty excited to get started this coming year. The annual trip is coming up, but this year I’m just tagging along for a visit!

These mares both were bought from Bill Harris out of Winnett, MT. Bill has been awesome to work with and a wealth of knowledge on these lines!

Pics to come once I get some quality ones!

Tookie - AQHA Rolling Tookie - 2006 bay roan mare
Honey - AQHA Lonsum Copper Miss - 2007 bay roan mare

Sneaking in some ride time between vendor shows!
My 2 year old stud c**t, Sham, came back about 2 weeks ago from 30 days of training (about 20 rides) with my friend Tyra! I’ve put a handful of more rides on him since to keep up on him and I’m so happy with how he’s turning out! I just want to call him “Sham Wow” all the time! 😂
I’ve taken a few years off from starting anything and riding in and of itself has seemed like a daunting task the last 10 months. So I honestly haven’t wanted to start any of my 2 year olds.
It has been a breath of fresh air to send them to someone else to put the firsts on them and then get them back to continue on with! Tyra did a fantastic job getting a good start on Sham. It’s been a great confidence booster to be able to get on and just ride and figure the rest out on the way!

He’s such a sweet boy 💕
