Our first tomato plant was a volunteer that sprang up under the trees where we rotate the pigs—courtesy of some kitchen slop.
Our second tomato plant popped up right in the middle of the dogs’ usual path. Luna was so suspicious of it that she’d jump up onto the retaining wall just to avoid walking past it.
Yesterday, my sister declared she never wanted to see another tomato again after hauling a bag to the housefrom the garden that weighed nearly as much as she did.
But here’s my question for you...
Does anyone else do a little happy dance when they bite into a perfectly ripe tomato? Maybe hum over a fresh tomato sandwich? Or let out a squeal over a slice of tomato pie?
I know I do. I’m an absolute sucker for all things tomato.
We’ll have plenty at the markets for the next little while—all organically grown and raised with lots of love. Until then, stay saucy 🍅
