We spotted blooming creeping Charlie in the yard today… on February 15.

Finding it this early is honestly unbelievable. Normally we are still in full winter mode, not watching bees consider foraging flights.

The bees are thinking spring. The calendar strongly disagrees.

Yesterday was warm, which made it a perfect day to get out to all my yards and check on the bees. Every hive needed more fondant patties, and I also discovered a skunk problem at both outyards.

If you have bees, do them a favor and take advantage of these warm days to check their resources. A quick look now can make a big difference later.

It’s hard to put into words what the NAHBE experience is. On one hand, it’s like the greatest family reunion there ever was! On the other hand, it’s humbling and centering to be surrounded by so many people who are passionate about beekeeping at every level and every stage. I am so grateful to have been a NextGen recipient. This year has really tested me as a beekeeper and I feel like I have struggled at best. However, day 1 with the NextGen group, while talking to us, Kamon nailed my biggest issue, and I don’t think he even knew it! I am grateful for the wisdom that so many have shared with me. As my mom said, my sails have been filled!
The car was once again stuffed full, the wallet completely empty, the heart and mind overflowing and ready to get to work!
