$8 per pound for Okfuskee County raised bison is actually kinda crazy! I’m not dropping way more $$$/lb on “beef” from who knows what country or horse. 😬

We had a surprise calf born on July 4th! Y’all might remember we had our bull, Mike Bison, s***m tested and he had low swimmers after a breeding season with no babies. Well- at least one of his swimmers won the race!

Baby Rocket and the rest of the herd had the zoomies excited for dinner tonight!!! We are also happy to see our new stud, Jason Mamoa, doing his job! Next summer we hope to have all the babies!

UPDATE 3- we don’t have enough people so we are having to cancel. Will reschedule at a later date.

UPDATE #2: we were about to light the fireworks when the wind picked up too bad. We are rescheduling for tomorrow night.

We are having our annual fireworks show on July 4th at 9:30. Come out to Weleetka lake and enjoy the show!

What’s for lunch?

Asian bison lettuce wraps!

On medium heat add 1Tbsp sesame oil to a pan, add 1T minced garlic and 1T minced ginger (can sub 1 teaspoon of powdered) then brown 1lb of ground bison 🦬

Once browned add 2T soy sauce, 1T hoisin sauce. Remove from heat and add chopped bell peppers and bok choy stalks.

Serve in bok choy leaves 🥬 to make wraps!

Big mama and the yearling did NOT want to get in the trailer. She lifted the back fence with her horn and ran off with the calf last night. This morning she and the calf had made their way along the pipeline back to our fence line. We patched the broken fence to keep them on our side. We can finally get a good night’s sleep!

Today has been crazy with bison getting out, our dog Jack running off, our horse Maggie being crazy BUT- this is how the day ended!

Great week on the ranch! We had some of our awesome bison short ribs ($10/pack), had cowboy Stetson over, caught our lazy hound napping on the job, and enjoyed our new blooms and sprouts!!!
