Happy National 4h week! 💚 countdown to county fair has started!!
Small Family Farm offering riding lessons and farm fresh eggs. Buck stud service: We allow buck stud service to select goat owners.
To consider this, the farm needs to show proof of a recent (within 1 year) bio screen panel (Johnes, CAE and CL). Prices range from 75-150 (depending on the buck) for a date with 1 second try if the doe goes into heat again within 60 days of the original date.
Happy National 4h week! 💚 countdown to county fair has started!!
No one explained Working Dog mentality to me and I never understood it before we got Delilah. Today, Delilah took her yearly jaunt to the vet- the only time Delilah leaves the farm is to go to the vet- 3 times ever in her lifetime she has left the farm.
The entire time we waited, she was nervous and anxious to get home. Then a baby goat appeared- she got very interested and wanted to protect it from all other dogs that came near.
Delilah got a clean bill of health- yearly vaccines, a pedicure, and love from the staff at Dade City Animal Clinic ❤️
Lizzy got a new house! She loves her new hutch!
Today was fun Friday… Reagan decided to try to make cheese! Can’t wait to try it!
Yes! This describes Delilah!
It is almost that time of year!! When you are done with your pumpkins and hay bales, bring them to the farm for the animals to eat!! Pumpkins must be free of mold! Anyone that donates pumpkins or hay bales can have photos with the new baby goats!
Johannah and her best friend, Prince Phillip ❤️
We have an over abundance of raw goat milk right now! $10/gallon for frozen raw goat milk. Message to arrange pick up!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s out there! Especially the dads here on our farm!
Welcome to the farm, Duck Norris. Duck Norris was brought to the farm by a family after he was abandoned by his mom. Johannah has stepped up and is taking on the role of mom for him! ❤️
It’s goat math 🤷🏼♀️😂😂
Nigerian Dwarf goat milk is high in many vitamins and minerals our body needs. Studies show that iron, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus in goat milk to be more easily digested and used by our bodies than other types of milk. Try the sweet-tasting milk of a Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat by visiting our website and finding a breeder near you!

HOW MUCH FOR A GOAT?
Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who sends a text to just ask for the price. The person who calls and hears the price and says “I can buy a cheaper goat somewhere else”. I'll talk to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want “just a pet and milk goat to raise”.
No registered goat is “just a pet and milk goat”.
Behind every purebred goat is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to distinguish a breeder from a backyard operation where no thought goes into the animals being bred except making more of them, regardless of body stature or health.
If you choose to buy a goat from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for every goat’s health.
This breeder sometimes skips vacations and events, misses sleep, and most of their personal time is dedicated to their goats and their well being. The truly passionate breeder puts everything they can into it. Not only for goats that are sold, but also for every customer who owns a piece of their heart and is now a member of their large family.
A breeder will get his hands dirty, often covered in everything that comes with goat ownership including but not limited to birth. Because that's what life is all about... in the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps spinning. A breeder conducts ultrasounds, analytics, emergency vet calls, vaccinations, registrations, researches pedigrees, deworming, hoof trims and provides the base start for the future of the goat in handling, milking and showing.
Last but not least, a breeder CHOOSES the family who is lucky enough to have one of their goats. Yes, you read correctly.
A real breeder chooses who they sell to.
There really is no compensation that can offset the investment a breeder has made.
A good breeder has other criteria for those who want to continue their bloodline, why? Because breeding isn't a responsibility to take lightly, it's a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.
Since a goat is never “just a pet” he/she is the legacy of the breeder, a little boy’s best friend, a caretaker of a little girl, therapy for the elderly, a member of the family, someone's whole world!
Responsible breeding and possession of many goats is a lifestyle and commitment many cannot understand. 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Our lives revolve around the goats!

A visual for today. Illustrated by the amazing Susan DiFelice.
The connection the rider has through their arms, hands and reins, needs to flow to the horse’s mouth and through the horse’s body in what we call the “circle of the aids” or a “recycling” of energy.
When the rider has flat or “piano” hands, they have effectively turned off the flow of connection. To keep that energy flowing in a harmonious way through your forearms and into your seat and back (which is where you can most influence the horse) you must keep your fists softly closed with the thumb on top.
Think of a water pipe, with an on off valve. The valve is ON or OPEN when your fist is upright and elbows by your side. The valve is shut off or CLOSED when you ride with flat hands.
We want the horse’s energy to flow through us, so we must keep all the “pipes” open!!
Let me know if this image resonates with you.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.
Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.
You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All the while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.
It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.
Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!
And know that 2022 prices are not 2023 prices.
I copied this from another small business owner that I support!
